Makeup colors are tricky for me. I have very fair, cool-toned skin and medium-dark ash brown hair. There is not a lot of room for tonal error when your skin is as pale as mine — it's nearly like painting onto a blank white canvas — and finding a brow product has been a challenge. I have found that nearly all brown brow products have red undertones that clash with the cool gold-to-green undertones of my naturally minky/mousy hair color. Products marketed to blondes tend to be cooler-toned, but are too light to hold up against my dark hair. Up until recently, one of my favorite brow products has been this powder in the Brunette palette — easy to use, natural looking, not too harsh or heavy against the whiteness of my face — but it is *very* red, so it's been a dab'll-do-ya situation, usually used in tandem with a cooler blonde brow pencil. When it was time to replace my nearly-empty palette, I crossed my fingers and ordered this Ash/Taupe version, despite the fact that it looked rather warm-toned in the thumbnail. Holy moly, am I glad I branched out! It's absolutely perfect with my natural hair color, and much cooler-toned than the photos led me to believe. The darker of the colors has a soft gold undertone — slightly warm, but not red — and the lighter tone is a cool brown that looks almost grey in the pan ("ash" is right!), but is absolutely *heavenly* when applied. The lighter tone is perfect for filling in where hair is sparse, and the darker tone is ideal for enhancing the shape of my brows; I tend to blend it into the inner edge and at the highest point of the arch. As with most powders, it rubs off somewhat easily, so you may need to do a midday touch-up in warmer months if you've been active, but it’s worth it. The wax, brush, and spoolie are all lovely additions to the palette, though I do find the application of the wax to be a little unweildy. It melts easily with the warmth of my finger, so I have to be careful to not get too much. I’ll usually just dab with my pinky and use the spoolie to comb it through, or use a transparent mascara to set it. Since I was so surprised by the color difference from what I saw on the listing, I’ve included a few photos of the product in natural light to give you a better idea of how it looks in person, shown next to what's left of my Brunette palette for comparison. To sum up: Highly recommended, especially for the price! I hope this helps!

This is my 3rd time to buy this product. It's the best I've found to try to cover white eyebrows.

This was the first time I tried brow powder, and I was not disappointed. Colors: The taupe / ash were great cool toned browns, and were not at all orange. (pictures attached below) Brush / Spoolie: You can only see the brush in my picture because I promptly lost the spoolie soon after using it. Both are very small and neither are very useful. I ended up buying a cheap eyeliner brush to apply this product because the brush that came attaches did not apply the product very well and had rough bristles. I didn't like it much at all, but I ended up just ordering another brush off amazon for a few dollars. The spoolie worked alright, but because of it's size, it got lost pretty quickly and I now use the spoolie off the end of one of my old eyebrow pencils. I would suggest that you order another brush off amazon with doublesided brush / spoolie to use with this product. Application: The powder lasts pretty long. You don't need to use a lot of it for it to stay on all day. I found that using the wax makes the color of your brows darker, which I don't always want, so I don't usually use the wax that comes with it. However, I don't have any problems with the wax, but I don't find it necessary, because the powder stays on for 10+ hours even without it. Usage: I've been using mine daily for a full month, and you can see on the picture (hopefully) that not much of the powder has been used. I expect this to last me around half a year, if not more.

I am almost 40 years old and have honestly never filled in my eyebrows. I think they are naturally a good shape and have a pretty good coverage but I do have some spots that could do with a filling in. In the past I tried brow pencils and really hated the severe look which I thought made me look ridiculous and I really loathe the too perfect drawn on brow look that appears to be all the rage right now... I wanted something natural and affordable and something that doesn't have too much of a reddish tone in it since I am a brunette but with cooler undertones... After reading lots of reviews I finally decided on this brow kit by NYX in the color Taupe/Ash... For a beginner it's perfect! Super easy to apply, just a few dabs in the lighter color (which I prefer) and it fills in all of the bare spots blending in perfectly with my own brow color... I wish it came with some sort of instruction because I wasn't too sure what to do with the wax but figured it out is for keeping your brows in place. I have been placing some on my finger and gently running over my brows after filling them in and then brushing into place with the little spool brush. I haven't had any issues with the color bleeding, even after a 1hr sweaty Zumba class! Highly recommended!
