Okay, so I had oily skin as an adolescent into adulthood. Now I am left with the aftermath, some shallow acne scars, big pores and my skin will still sometimes get greasy looking in summer. I need a makeup that is long lasting, doesn't get shiny or oxidize--plus looks natural if that is possible. So, NYX Professional Makeup popped up in a list of foundations when I was searching for long lasting makeups. The brand certainly does have a lot of color choices. I have skin with golden undertones too and a lot of makeup lines tend to cater to cooler or more neutral toned skin shades. Voila! I found a perfect shade and it blends well with my skin tone. If I apply some mattifying oil control under the makeup it lasts throughout the day. This makeup is fairly reasonably priced too compared to higher end brands I have used, so it is wallet friendly. I only wish it contained sunscreen (thus the reason for "4" stars), although I do apply sunscreen underneath my makeup. Just realize since it is long lasting it might require some sort of makeup remover prior to cleansing. Yeah, I'll get it again.

Alright, as a 20-something year old moving out of really bad acne, believe me when I say I've been through a lot of foundations. For context when using this, I had mild (very pigmented) acne, and still have skin that tends on the dry end. When applying a lot of moisturizer beforehand, this foundation probably lasted a good 8-10 hours, but would feel ready to come off by the end. The coverage was ok, but was fairly sheer, so I needed a few layers (or fewer thicc layers) to cover what I needed covering. It was comfortable enough, but after a while it was time to come off. If you're looking for full coverage, go somewhere else. If you've got clear(er) skin and just want something to lightly touch up, this is your gal! Hope that helps!

I may have written a bad review beneath a different shade and I'll talk about that in a minute. But what I like about this foundation so much is the texture. It is not a heavy, goopy foundation full of moisturizers. Its not sticky, or tacky. It is also not a sheer dewy foundation with next to no coverage that makes you glow. It also isnt a heavy opaque matte foundation thats so thick it adds texture. What it is is a highly pigmented, light feeling fluid that dries super fast. Excellent for oily skin. Full coverage, so full that I dont need concealer with it.But it adds no texture which is super important to me as I've returned so many for that reason. It has no sunscreen in it but most dont and I find adding any foundation over sunscreen adds texture but again, this one is so thin as far as lack of goop that it doesn't add texture. But it is so pigmented that it covers everything. For this reason, I would not only recommend it for oily skin, for which I believe it it the perfect makeup for but for all skin types, because if you have dry skin you are wearing lots of moisturizing products underneath it anyway. Many years ago Maybelline had a foundation called Great Wear.. This feels and looks exactly like it minus the smell which was sort of like nail polish. I have been trying to find a dupe for that foundation since I was a teenager. Never even came close. Until now. BTW this doesnt smell at all. As far as shades are concerned, I ran into some trouble at first because alabaster was perfect in undertone but a little too light and yet the next neutral shade on their wheel was 4 shades darker. I tried every shade in between and none worked and I felt like bottles had been mismarked with the wrong shades or something but I tried other foundations and kept thinking of this one cause none could compare. So I tried again and porcelain which is one shade up from alabaster is perfect now even though the first time I bought it it was too dark. So whatever went wrong there I'm glad it was fixed because this is the only foundation that really works for my oily skin without looking heavy and textured. I will say that I'd not use it on bare skin because it does dry fast and for me, bare republic gel sunscreen or neutrogena liquid sunscreen works perfectly under it. A primer works great under it and sunscreen or just a primer alone.

I have oily acne prone skin. I've been trying to find a shade that would fit my face as I have hyperpigmentation. Then my neck is dark and my chest is very light. I took a photo and uploaded as this was the shade recommended, and bought as it looked really good online. However, I put on the product after my moisturizer and primer and it got darker. So I decided to put it on without having anything on to make sure it wasn't my primer and moisturizer and it did the same thing. So I'm still on the hunt for foundation.

This product was said to be 'highly pigmented' and that's not quite accurate. But 'highly pigmented' compared to what is the question?!? They don't give a comparison. I have a moderate skin condition that needs minimizing, so I thought this could work -- without me having to spend extra money I don't have. It covers fairly well, but not as a 'highly pigmented' foundation should. The other thing is their color chart -- it's a little off. I ordered porcelain since I'm fair complected, thinking it would have just a bit of extra color since it's summer. Actually, it is too light, even for me. I had to mix it with something else in order to wear it now. It may be better in winter, we'll see ... ?!? But I will say that the tone is good and that's not easy for me to find. I'm a mix of fair pink AND olive skin. I'm not discouraging anyone from buying the product because it's basically good. Just make your decision carefully in regards to pigment needed and color. π
