This was to help my firm mattress be a bit more comfortable. It does help some. The zipper on the washable cover (which is nice to be able to wash occasionally) was broken. The straps meant to hold firmly on the mattress, for some reason would snap back out when I tried to move the straps under each corner of my mattress. Not sure why that happened. We got a new bed a year and a half ago, since then it's been nothing but problems with it for both me and my partner. since a new bed isn't in the budget right now after this one (we got it on a deal with no return afforded to us). We got the 4 inch thick to try and level out the huge dip that exists in the mattress. We wanted it to be firm to also combat this issue. The foam pillow top is quite nice and on its own feels better than our mattress. I listened to the directions while airing out the mattress. It reached it's full 4 inches in under 48 hours, I measured. When airing it out my dog took the opportunity to come lay on it. So evidently he approved lol. We sleep a bit better now. I can't feel the sink in the mattress as bad. Though, through the night I start to notice it more when two people are in the bed at once, but it's still not as bad. Otherwise it is comfortable to lounge in during the day when I'm home. My partner seems to do better as well overall than without. Weve had it for almost a month, and I think it's quite comfy and the quality is nice. I appreciate the straps because we've had a pillow topper before without one and it would slip and slide all over. Needed constant adjustment. Anyways, 4/5 just because it didn't quite fix my issues, granted it's less with this product and more to do with the bed itself. So, it's great if you need a slight fix, but otherwise it might be worth looking into a getting a better mattress if you can. ... show more

This is comfy . I've have had this for a while now.. it's almost too soft.. and even with the straps around it pulled as tight as they will go it still moves all over the place.. but if you want something soft ( very) and don't mind it nearly falling off the bed every night.. then this is it..

I purchased this for my uncomfortable Helix mattress. The worst mattress I ever owned. I'm a large woman so Helix was supposed to be for heavier ppl. It was too soft and very difficult to turn in. I'm a side sleeper only and I was waking up with shoulder, hip and leg pains. I couldn't afford another mattress so I thought a mattress topper would help. I knew I had to let it decompress for at least 24 hrs first, and I only have one bed so I had to place it in the spare room on some plastic storage bends under it. According to the instructions here and on the Novella website it says to decompress for 24 hrs, but the instructions from the box says 48hrs. I believe 24 hrs to decompress and 48hrs to air out the chemical smell which I hardly could smell. I seen after 16 hrs it was at 3.5". After leaving out for 30 hrs it was still 3.5". I knew that was as high as it was going to get. I seen a lot of ppl here upset saying theirs compressed only up to 2" or 3" for a 4" topper. In my opinion they were sent a 2" or 3" instead of a 4". That is sad considering you will NOT get this topper back in the box. There is no wheres on the topper or the box stating the size or height. I worried that would happen to me, but I was ok with 3.5". I still would have been happier if it was the height they stated. It fit my full sized mattress perfectly. First I just placed the sheets on top of it and it kept moving side to side which was really annoying me constantly having to get up and reposition it. Then I put my purple mattress protector over it which is thin and fits very tight on the bed with extra big pockets and the topper hasn't moved since. so if yours is moving, you will need a snug mattress protector on it. I highly recommend purple, which is water proof and thin. I sleep soo good on this. No shoulder pain or any pains at all. The amazing thing is how easy I can turn around on it, much easier then my helix mattress alone. This provided just the right firmness I needed to make up for the soft mattress. I purchased the 3 inch mattress topper to use as a stand alone. The foam is very soft. It sink when I slept on it so I felt the firm bedframe below it. Not very good when you have back pain. If you use it on a bed that is not really firm then it probably a good buy. UPDATE: After 1 week of using the bed, my opinion on this mattress changed. It was partially due to an adjustable bed that I purchase to go along with it. At first, I didnt like the firmness thinking it would hurt my back but I was wrong. The mattress was soft but the bed was firm so they both work together holding up my body. The mattress does not sink completely to the bed. The foam kind of push back up so it felt like I was floating an inch above a flat surface. I changed the position of the top of my bed slightly up for a more comfortable position and sleeping on it does help with my back pain. This and the adjustable bed was definitely a good buy for me. ... show more
