The drainage layer should be about 2-3 inches. To prevent overwatering when using outdoors, expose the bottom drainage holes by removing the snap-on tray. • Add potting mix and fill the container up to 1" from the top. • Add or transplant your favorite plant to the pot. • Position the planter in an area that will allow the plant to receive the recommended amount of sunlight. • After initial planting, refer to the after-care instructions for each specific plant species. • Water accordingly.

Nice, it fits perfectly for what I wanted it for by measurements and the color is as it is in the picture. I already watered my plant by the time I lifted it and I didn’t find it too heavy to carry with one hand. No water seeped out of the bottom after I watered it moderately, also I noticed that it has good drainage holes. It did not bend or break so it’s good quality. Like others have mentioned, these arrived a little dirty, but it wasn't anything that was too big of a deal. The snap-on saucer isn't too hard to take off, but I could see it being difficult with a plant in there. I generally don't move the saucer around too much. If you don't overwater the plant then it shouldn't be too bad, but if you like to check the saucer, that's something you might want to keep in mind. I've seen people in the reviews handle this by either offsetting the saucer so it doesn't snap or by enlarging the holes that the saucer snaps into. Another problem I have is that the drainage holes aren't what they should be. In the 10-inch pots I got, there are only 4 that are maybe a centimeter in diameter. Some of them were even smaller because there was plastic partially or completely filling in the hole. However, this problem was easily solved, too. I used a closed pair of scissors, shoved it through the drainage hole and was able to make them larger by twisting the larger part of the scissors through. So, in summary, these pots are by no means perfect, but they look really nice once all is said and done and the problems they do have are by no means insurmountable or things that entirely detract from the pots. ... show more

I had beern looking everywhere for a large white plastic pot. I needed one to repot my growing Monstera plant. How hard could this be . . . I looked for a month or two! If I found a 14" white plastic pot is was priced out of my reach (for a plastic pot!!) I had my pick of expensive, non-plastic pots, but nothing that I wanted specifically. I was simply repotting a efast growing plant that I will have to repot again I suspect. This pot meets my needs. It is reasonably priced. Its hard to get excited about a plastic pot, but I kid you not, I could have spent 3-4 times the price for a similar item. ... show more

Perfect! They have holes and a tray. Bright white color and really BIG. It is plastic so maybe an 8 out of 10 for sturdiness...but just put a lot of soil and your good. I added my own clear tray in the pictures.     • Overpriced and scuffed

I bought this because I wanted a simple pot for a large plant that was root bound. I actually really like the look of the pot, the size and the quality. Unfortunately, it has a shiny finish and it came completely scuffed all over. For the price, I would've expected it to be wrapped with a film of some sort to keep it from getting scuffed and looking beat up. I decided to keep it only because I already had the large plant pulled out of the smaller pot with the roots exposed. I used furniture polish to restore the shine and although the scuffs are still visible, they're not as noticeable. ... show more
