I purchased this plane for my boyfriend for Christmas and he loves it! He is not technically a beginner with remote control transportation BUT he found this plane really easy to fly. One thing he would recommend is for the propellers to be a different color than black. He flew the plane into a tree and the propellers fell off (as they are designed to do) but it was difficult to find the propellers in all the leaves lol. The plane is very light and fun! Bought this rc airplane thinking it would be quite durable considering it was almost $100. Got it and the foam is cheap and broke before we even got to fly it. Very disappointed

Features: Seems Durable Did not break Considerations: Some difficulty controlling What we received The yellow Sport Cub S2 plane was presented in a large sealed medium duty cardboard package weighing in at about two (2) pounds. That package is about 13” x 13” x 5”, it’s big. It’s easy to pull out the plane, which is set into a large square Styrofoam packing. Not all the parts promised were present. There were only two (2) spare props, not the listed three (3), otherwise, we did receive the pair of front wheels; the battery pack and an extra battery pack; instructions; controller, USB charging wire (that flashes red when charging), replacement prop connector, and of course the plane. Made of The easiest way to describe the make-up of the plane is that it’s Styrofoam, so very light, as in 50 grams, with the battery pack, which weighs 12 grams. Warnings There were repeated warnings about the battery pack, which is roughly 7.75 mm thick and is 37mm x 20mm. Again, this battery pack weighs in at 12 grams. Those warnings/precautions surrounded the dangers of the battery pack, including warnings about the battery pack bloating. So, guess what happened on the third charge? The battery pack bloated to 8.75 mm, a full mm. It does not sound much, but that bloat was recognizable by just looking at the battery pack. Flight It’s not that easy to fly, but that could be user error, as this is our first RC plane. Our best success, for taking off, was into the wind. We happen to live within eyesight of the ocean, so we get frequent wind which we tried to use tour advantage. Durability This bugger is tough. We suffered through about two (2) dozen crashes. The prop would separate, but we were lucky to find the prop, every time. Flight area Based on our experience, fling in a large field is best. Our backyard efforts startled us and were concerned with crashing into the neighbors’ yards. There are a few listing errors. Such as the promise of three (3) rather than the two (2) props received. Next is the recommended age of (8) years old, even though the box references (14+) age. I practiced with this, with the aid of my eldest child’s teacher. The debate Now we will not debate whether this plane is for beginner or expert. However, we will point out that we are beginners and really enjoyed flying this. It really works. Very fun. Feel & Performance The controls have limits but are responsive. We never flew past (75’) and are trying to get a hang on how to use this. It’s fun. Value These are often offered at about half-price, with a coupon. Although I was not able to take advantage of the coupon, I still think this fun Because of the premium price, these are tough to decide, so I will keep this at a weak five (5) star rating. We would select these again but would wait for a sale price. I hope my thoughts were informative. ... show more

    • I’m Going to Need More Propellers!

I must admit that some reviewers have had me a bit intimidated with this one. I’m a beginner, never flown a RC Plane before. So, with all the comments and rookie warnings, I have waited until a perfect day to take it on its maiden flight. With the temp in the low sixties, and no wind, I couldn’t wait any longer. I read through the brief owner’s manual, got familiar with the remote control, and headed to a small park nearby. The plane has three flying options. I chose Intermediate. The plane lifted off the first time. Soon, I was making perfect circles with a few unexpected dips and rises. The remote has a return button that’s supposed to direct the plane back to where it took off. I tried it, but I couldn’t tell if anything happened. Guess I’ll have to practice that a few more time. At any rate, when I brought the plane in for the landing. It glided into a grassy area and flipped forward. The propeller didn’t pop off like the ad stated it would. It simply broke. Since it only arrived with two propellers instead of three like the ad promised, I decided that was enough for the first day. Overall – It’s fun! It flies great and I’m sure with a little practice I’ll be flying like a pro. The remote has amazing reaction time. I will have to deduct a star for not having that third propeller, though. The manual could have been a little more informative. It should tell the reader where to get parts, like more propellers. ... show more
