  • Buy These IMMEDIATELY!!!
Color: White
I'm 57 and over the years I've owned many headphones, both wired and wireless. Bose, Sony, Sennheiser, Apple, you name it. I always felt that they never really compared to listening to music through good speakers. The best sound from headphones I had were from the Air pods Pro Max, but the noise canceling stopped working on it. I just recently purchased a high-end set or wired headphones (Fosi Audio i5) as well as their DAC Headphone Amp (Fosi Audio ZH3) and they are the BEST I have ever heard. But together they cost about $750, and they are open back, so everyone around you can hear what you are listening to. They are great for home use, but not for public use. So, I needed to buy something to replace my Air pods Pro Max, and this seemed like it would fit the bill. It went on sale for $179 so I pulled the trigger. Boy, am I glad I did. Out of the box, the sound of these (to me anyway) was on par, maybe slightly better than the Air pods Pro Max. The bass was punchy and tight, mids were clear, and the highs were superb without being fatiguing. I saw that there was a firmware update, but I wanted to play some music first to see if I would hear a difference. The firmware update surprisingly did make an audible improvement to the sound. Even tighter and deeper base stood out. The app is simple to use and very powerful. There are two ways to adjust equalization. A basic one where you adjust Bass, Mid, and Treble, or a more advanced one that simulates an 8 band equalizer. There is also bass boost and spatial audio settings. It's a wonderful app. I use the basic EQ, Bass +2, Mid-1, Treble +3 and sounds FANTASTIC. Are they as good as my $750 Fosi Audio setup. No. But I would say they are maybe 75% of the way there, for 1/4 of the cost. They are better than any other set of headphones I have ever owned though. The headphones are lightweight and very comfortable to wear. Even though they are lightweight, they seem pretty durable, but time will tell. I got the white ones, and I think they look sharp. Very modern. It also comes with a USB-C cable, a 1/8" wired connection cable, and even a carrying bag. At $199 they are a fantastic buy, at $179 they are a STEAL! I cannot recommend these any more highly. A great set of headphones! ... show more

  • Great value, awesome sound and ANC, long battery life and LDAC support!
Color: Black
Preordered item, it arrived on the day of release! Item was nicely packaged and very well-designed. Unboxing was straightforward and figuring out the controls were pretty intuitive— except for the Bluetooth sync button, which is conveniently hidden on the inside of the right cup. After figuring that out, pairing was straightforward. The Nothing X iOS app was also easy to install and step through. There was already a firmware update. After updating the firmware, tested it out and the sound quality was great! Detailed and spacious sound even from closed back dynamic drivers. I was very impressed. For those concerned about bass response, it’s relatively flat with stock settings but there’s options to increase the bass response up to 2x which is quite nice, especially for bass heads. There’s also some custom eq settings available in the app. I listen to a lot of 80s, 90s, Pop, hip-hop, EDM, Liquid DnB, House and Trance— these are great for their price and perfect for this music. LDAC isn’t enabled by default, so it needs to be enabled in the app. Noise canceling is great, very similar to the Sonos Ace and Sennheiser Momentum 4s. Comfort-wise, they’re lightweight tipping at the lower end of the 300g end, so they’re really comfortable for long listening periods. I haven’t fully tested the battery but the specs show it for a long time 100+ hrs, but I believe this is without LDAC enabled (eg using the AAC default codec). I like these much more than my AirPods Max— the AirPods are so heavy in comparison. I would certainly pick this up again in a heartbeat. One other thing to note was that with LDAC support on the Nothing headphones were solid— it was consistent and never stuttered, compared to my Sennheiser Momentum 4s that kept sounding statics and dropping connectivity. ... show more

  • Good Experience and Long Lasting Battery
Color: White
4.5 After a week of consistent use, I'm ready to write a review. I might come back after a month to update my review with more data and experience. I really like these headphones. I've listened to YouTube videos, podcasts, music, and movies. They worked well in all situations. The Look: The first time I saw the design of the headphones, I didn't really like them. I saw them through a high contrast screenshot on a video podcast. The product was announced, but not released yet. However the same people praised the older version of the product. So I set my eyes on the black version, while waiting for reviews. When reviews finally started releasing, it seemed like everyone had the pink version. It looked much softer, sleeker, and prettier than when I first saw it. I really considered getting the pink version, but I'm not a pink person (I'm a purple person). So I got the white version. When I opened the boxed. The white version was much prettier in person. It's white with light gray accents. The square design gives it a futuristic look but also stands out against all the other round headphones in the market. The Fit and Feel: I have small ears, so my ears fit nicely insides the ear cuff. I don't have problems with sound leakages or pressure on my ears. I've even had earrings on and they didn't stab the side of my head because of the headphones. I've worn them for hours and never felt like I had to take them off because of the pressure. The only time I had slight issues is when I tested wearing them while exercising. My ears were sweating and I had to remove them to wipe my ears, but that is to be expected. I put them back on after wiping. I'm so glad these have physical buttons. I can't tell you the amount of times I've stopped/started media or raised/lowered the volume because I was adjusting the earbuds in my ears. The same happens when I try to lay down while wearing earbuds. There is a switch to turn the device off/on, a dial to raise/lower the volume, and a flicker to go forward/backward. There is another button for bluetooth, but I haven't had to use it, because as soon as I turned the device on, it was in pairing mode. There is a utility button that you can use to map to a few select things like an assistant or camera. I haven't used that button yet. The Sound: These last couple of years, I've mostly been wearing earbuds. I heard that the Nothing Headphone (a) was bass focused and comparing it to some of my other over the ear headphones, that is true. However, I like having the bass emphasized, so these headphones are a great match for me. Even then, I don't feel like they are bass heavy like The Beats Pro headphones. I think they have a good balance. Also, I have been able to hear voices and instruments in songs I've listened to for years that I have never heard before. To get the most out of the headphones, you have to download the app. There is a spatial audio section that allows you to change the way the listening experience feels. There is a Bass Enhancement section (which I have off) and an Equalizer (which I have set to balanced). The Equalizer has 3 sections: Simple, Advanced, and Explore. - Simple allows you to choose between Balanced, More Treble, More Bass, and Voice. - Advanced allows you to control different sections of high, mid, and lows frequencies. You can then set profiles to switch between the different sound settings you prefer. - Explore allows you to install profiles created by the company and other people. There is a sound effect for just about everything. When you turn the device on, there is a computer/robotic sound. When you turn the volume up/down there is a clicking sound. The tactile feel and sound of raising/lowering the volume is soooo satisfying. When you turn on transparency mode, there is a breathy exhaling sounds. When you turn ANC back on there is a thump sound. When you plug in/unplug the headphone jack, there is a computer/robotic sound. The ANC: In 2021 I had the Sony WH-1000XM4 over the ear headphones. Those were the best ANC headphones I've had. After they broke, I relied on the ANC in earbuds. However, they were hit or miss and ANC drains the battery of the earbuds. So most of the time, I stopped using ANC and relied on just the silicone seal to help block out sounds. I saw reviews stating the ANC on these headphone were "okay". I disagree. Among the earbuds I have, the best ANC that is close to or on par with the Sony WH-1000XM4 are the Google Pixel Bud Pro (1st version). The Nothing Headphone (a) ANC is very similar to the Google Pixel Bud Pro's ANC. These headphones have been able to block out the sound of slamming doors and other loud noises neighbors make when you live in a building with walls that are built like drums. In the app, you can change the ANC type between: Low, Mid, High, and Adaptive. I use the High setting. I've been given the ability to hear my own thoughts and get distracted less, while not having to worry about the device falling out of my ears or the battery dying. Speaking of the battery ... The Battery: These headphones last for days ... days!! This is with ANC on. I received these on a Tuesday. I put them on a charger for a couple of hours. When I was ready to use them, the blinking white light was off, so I assumed it was fully charged. The battery didn't die until the next Monday. This is an estimate of how much I used the device until the battery died: - Tues: ~4hr - Wed: ~10hrs - Thurs: ~12hrs - Fri: ~4hrs - Sat: ~10hrs - Sun ~15hrs - Mon: ~2hrs Again, these are estimates. I might have used them for a longer time on different days. Also if the device doesn't detect sound for 50-60mins, it will automatically shut off. So in total I used the device for ~57hrs before it died. On Saturday the light on the bottom of the device turned red. I think this comes on when it is below 25%. Sometime on Sunday it started blinking red. I think this comes on when it is below 10%. All of this was with ANC turned on and set to High. Amazing! The Not So Good: Like I mentioned in the beginning, it has only been a week, but so far I really like these headphones. The only down sides I've noticed have to deal with using the headphone jack. The device has a USB-C port and a 3.5mm audio cable port. You can use both to connect to a device and listen to sound with a wire. However, the device must be powered on to do so. You cannot use the headphone without power. If the headphone die and you still want to use it to listen to music with the 3.5 audio cable, it won't work. I have other over the ear headphones that work without power, so I'n not sure why they made the choice not to allow them to work. It might be because of the size of the drivers; they need power to work. The power from the cable is probably not enough or it would have required more engineering to make both use cases work well. The other problem I had was that sometimes when I use the 3.5 audio cable with a USB-C DAC and connect to my phone, I can hear a sound like a powering up sound. This happens when I connect the device and have nothing playing. As soon as I play something, I hear a pop sound and it goes away. This has happened several times, so it wasn't a weird situation that happened once and never again. So overall, good design, good ANC, good sound, and amazing battery life. I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more
