I've had a couple gyroscope toys from my childhood, so I knew what they were supposed to do. I bought this one for a family member, and when I took it out to test, I was a little disappointed. It's not as sturdy, and it doesn't balance quite as well as it should because of the looseness of it. It wobbles pretty severely and definitely couldn't do the trick of spinning on the edge of a glass, or balancing on the end of a finger. Fun to watch on a flat surface though. Thought this would make a cool gift as a trinket, but the item received was in a retaped box and the pieces were loose and rattling. An attempt to get the gyro to work failed miserably.
