The back of the seat is cheaply built. It is made of thin plastic, has no cushioning and is not sturdy. It moves while pedaling. Inferior to the seat on my previous NordicTrack the GX 5.0 PRO. We bought this bike for my husband after our last nordictrac went kaput (after 4 yrs heavy use). He rides it 5+ days a week and this one works fine. From the on-line reviews, we were not sure if you had to subscribe to iFit in order to use the bike or not. Hubby wasn't interested in iFit. I chatted with NordicTrac to ask them for a definitive answer since amazon reviews had conflicting reports. Nordictrack said if you buy the bike through sears you have to get the iFit ( why is that??) but if you buy through Amazon it's optional--iFit is on the bike but you don't have to use it. Based on that we ordered the bike. So, we were surprised when the bike came (we had to pay to ship from CA to Hawaii, so no going back now) iFit came on and wanted to be activated. He couldn't get anything else to work. Hubby called NordicTrac customer service and after a 20 minute phone call providing all our personal information to them to register before they could answer a simple question, they said, "Turning off iFit is easy. Just press and hold the iFit icon for 20 seconds and it will allow you to bypass iFit. " He did and it works fine now. Just had to do it once and never again. He's had the bike a few weeks now and no problem. Thought this info might save someone the hassle we went through. This might even work for you Sears buyers. BTW, we tried to buy the pro assembly but they don't offer in our area. My husband paid the 2 delivery guys (who delivered from the port to our home) to put the bike together for us in about 30 minutes--so it's probably not that hard. These weren't bike assembly pros, just delivery guys. ... show more

    • NICE, SMOOTH, COMFY, BIKE.. iFIT req. is EXTREMELY misleading BUT.. can be easily BYPASSED! ;-)
First like a few other clever users have pointed out, the iFit Registration/Requirement can be bypassed when setting up this bike, (simply Press & Hold the blue iFit button on the console for up to 20 seconds) So I did not allow all of the complaints about this being a fraud or scam deter me from this purchase because we recently got a NordicTrack treadmill in February (which has been very satisfactory) but also had this iFit nonsense that I quickly figured out how to bypass. I really did wonder if the same method would work on this bike because unlike the treadmill, there are BIG RED WARNING signs all over this thing, on the bike, the manual and at least on one other key visual area leading the user to believe that they have no choice but to go and register for an iFit membership. Please understand...YOU DON'T! And this behavior/tacit is kind of shady and very misleading almost to the point of insult. NordicTrack must have a clause with iFit for them to be so deliberately disingenuous. The reason why I gave this bike 5 stars is really to help boost this bike's overall rating because once you bypass the scammyness in the beginning, it's a good bike. It rides like a dream and feels semi-premium for the price. We are a family of 4 and are setting up a family home gym. Brand wise we are happy with NordicTrack now having purchased both a treadmill and a bike. We will also put this machine through the paces and follow up down the road. But if you are looking for a very nice recumbent bike and you don't have SOLE Fitness $$$ then get this one! The Schwinn 270 is probably the most popular but is sold out everywhere. THIS ONE HAS A FAN! It's loudish but it works well ;-) Overall this bike looks and feels more premium and may actually be a nicer alternative for many albeit it slightly more expensive.     • Sturdy & Compact Recumbent, Perfect for Small Home Cardio
The primary reason I purchased this model is because it fits into a small corner in my home and overall I'm very happy with my experience so far. This bike has one of the better flywheel weights (20lbs) in this price range and the bike feels sturdy during a workout. Assembly is absolutely something you should have two people for. But overall it was straightforward and I had no issues following the directions or assembling all of the parts included. I'm 6' 2" and 180lbs and I feel like the bike can be adjusted perfectly for my size. The comfort is completely adequate for the price, with enough padding on the seat and the open ventilation on the back of the seat. This was a big plus for me since I like to work up a sweat when doing cardio. The electronics are completely fine for my needs. The heart rate monitor is a little finicky at times depending on how I'm holding the contacts on the handle bars, but otherwise the screen is easy to read and shuts off automatically when done. I really didn't need a big video screen like some of the new machines, especially since its just as easy to place a tablet or phone in the holder below the screen. The operation of the machine is near silent, which is perfect since I live in a smaller home with roommates. So I can exercise at any time without creating any noise pollution. The one complaint I do have is the buit-in fans. They're actually quite loud for how little air they carry, so I never use them. I just use a room fan at my back since I prefer the airflow in that direction anyway. I'm curious to see how this thing holds up once I put a few years of use on it. But there's no indication that anything would break down or have issues in the months I've been putting it to the test. However, I did decide to grab an extended labor/maintenance warranty since this is my first NordicTrack brand purchase. ... show more
