Description

The NH-U14S is the 14cm top model of Noctua’s classic U-series single tower CPU coolers, which have received more than 400 awards and recommendations from the international press. While the large, six heatpipe design and the NF-A15 140mm fan with PWM support for fully automatic speed control allow the cooler to best the renowned quiet cooling performance of all other U-series coolers, its 52mm slim shape still assures full compatibility with tall RAM modules on LGA2011/LGA2066. Topped off with the trusted, pro-grade SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s proven NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-U14S is a complete premium quality solution that combines superb performance, high compatibility and quiet operation. Reasonable size for better overall compatibility Standing 165mm tall, the NH-U14S is short enough to fit most modern high-end cases. Measuring 150mm wide (including fan and fan clips), the NH-U14S provides better compatibility with multi-GPU setups as compared to tower coolers that are wider than 150mm or use fans wider than 150mm. Full RAM compatibility on LGA20xx With its 52mm slim design tailor-made for LGA20xx (LGA2066 & LGA2011), the NH-U14S will not overhang the RAM slots on this platform, thus ensuring full compatibility with tall memory modules. On some LGA1200/115x and AMD motherboards, the front fan may overhang the first RAM slot, so standard height RAM (up to 32mm) should be chosen when using the first slot. NF-A15 140mm PWM Fan The NF-A15 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a round frame that complies with Noctua's AAO standard. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14. NT-H1 thermal compound Noctua's much- acclaimed NT-H1 is a well proven pro-grade TIM solution that provides minimum thermal resistance, excellent ease-of-use and outstanding reliability, which makes it suitable for use in professional server and workstation environments. • Amazing performance - Better than 120MM AIO!
I absolutely love this CPU cooler. I have used many brands of CPU coolers in the past, from tower coolers and downdraft coolers to all-in-one liquid coolers and I have to say that this is my absolute favorite so far. It is very well made, quality all around from the finish to the packaging. It was easier to install than nearly any other cooling solution I have used, save for the stock AMD tension arm. I bought this to replace a Hyper 212 cooler that was incapable of cooling my Ryzen 1700 @4ghz. I have tried the following coolers on this CPU: Hyper 212 EVO DeepCool GAMMAX 400 CoolerMaster MA610P RGB Corsair H100i GTX (v2) None of those coolers allowed stable operation of my Ryzen 1700 when overclocked to 4.0ghz @ 1.4375v. Ryzen is temperature sensitive when overclocked, while 80c @ 3.8ghz is just fine, the higher the clock the lower the max stable temp. I found that when clocked at 4ghz, my CPU is only stable up to 74c. None of those other coolers were able to keep my chip under 75c at max load. Only the Noctua NHU14S did. At max load under a synthetic stress test or rendering workload my CPU temp maxes out at 72c, and is completely stable for 24/7 operation. During gaming sessions the max recorded temp is 60c. Adding to that the ease of installation and this cooler is the absolute best I have ever owned. I set a max fan speed of 80% in my BIOS and even at full load the computer is still virtually silent, with only the faintest hum audible. I would strongly recommend this case to anyone who doesn't want liquid cooling but may want to overclock their processor. Just make sure your case and motherboard will accomodate it as it is truly a beast, I've added a pic of it in comparison to the Hyper 212 that it replaced. ... show more

  • You want the best? You're getting the best. Noctua.
I used an H100i v2 for a build I did back in May of 2018 (i7 8700K on an Asus Prime Z370-A) and it was great...for less than a year. The pump failed and the temps were out of control (90C plus under load). I went with the U14s instead of the D15s simply for clearance purposes, and my god was I blown away by the craftsmanship and the packaging of this thing. It's built like a tank, and it's super easy to install. The mounting hardware itself is also a masterclass in how to create strong and reliable pieces for use in a heavy duty product. Took all of 15 minutes to install, with clear and simple instructions. Temps are as good or better than my H100i V2 even overclocked to 4.8 GHZ on all cores, I never see higher than 64-65C. Stop wondering, stop looking for reviews and just buy it. You are truly getting the best of the best made by a company who has built a reputation for extremely reliable and excellent products. The included fan is backed up by a SIX YEAR WARRANTY, and Noctua is also known for sending out free mounting hardware for new socket designs that get released. I will never go back to water cooling, and I'm left wondering why I bothered with it in the first place. Noctua just earned another lifelong customer. ... show more

  • AMAZING cooling. But AMD AM4/Asus ROG Crosshair vii owners read first!
Build - Ryzen 2700x, Corsair ROG Crosshair vii, 32GB G.Skill 3200 RAM, 1TB EVO Pro M.2 in a Thermaltake Suppressor case. Been wanting a Noctua cooler for a while, finally replaced my stock Ryzen 2700x (beautiful RGB, but loud and average cooling with little room to OC) with the NH-U14S. Stock cooler with OC turned off would hit 65-70 under heavy load. PROS: GREAT Cooling - Idles at 36, under full load re-encoding video with multiple filters, and with CPU auto-OCed to 4.175, now hovers around 53-56 (20+ degrees better than stock). Phenomenal build quality. ***Easy installation (see caveats below). Never felt like touching the fins would slice my fingers open. Paired with the (overpriced) Chromax cover it doesn't look ... *as* bad as other Noctuas I've installed. High quality thermal paste. QUIET. So much quiet... ***BUT*** CONS: On initial install, followed directions exactly. Used correct spacers for AM4. I've built dozens of PCs so I do know how to apply thermal paste in the right amount for different processors. Powered up and heart dropped - dreaded "error 8", which is generally an RMA for this MB. Took back apart, reassembled. Noticed that the cooler had pressed out all the thermal paste in the center, like barely a film left. Well, thinner is generally good. Figured I'd dislodged something. Reassembled with new paste application after thorough cleaning. This time got error "F9 --> 0d" - uh oh. Memory problems? Took apart, reassembled, scared I'd just killed a relatively expensive MB. This time only tightened cooler 75% of the way - booted up just fine. Temps good, cooler feels secure, no wiggle. But because I'm OCD and was willing to take a risk in order to verify it was the cooler and not my Build-Fu, did the stupid curious geek thing and turned it off, tightened cooler to stopping point per instructions, and lo and behold, error 8 again. Backed off screws to 75%, re-seated and re-pasted cooler, rebooted - all is fine. So confirmed that the AM4 spacers need to be just a smidge (maybe 1-1.5mm) bigger to avoid too much pressure on the MB. Luckily I didn't crack it or damage pins on the CPU, but needed to be sure for future builds. Also - ugly fans. Still? I get that it's your corporate ID, but there are better hills to die on than by steadfastly clinging to the "straw urine and post-salad diarrhea" color scheme. I also think it's a bit overpriced to spend an extra 20 for a cover so your cooler doesn't look like something you pulled from a 1984 Commodore product. You want the best cooling without needing to put fluids in your case and to run dang near silent? Buy this. If you really need aesthetics you can buy the optional black fan and get the Chromax cover and spend an extra $50 for "pretty", since if you have an otherwise good looking build the stock version of this will 100% nerf that vibe. ... show more
