Description

The NF-A14 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a square frame that complies with Noctua’s AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard. Its square shape and 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) make it ideal for use on watercooling radiators or as an upgrade for 140mm case fans. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14. The ULN version provides super-slow 800/650rpm speed settings for ultra-low-noise applications and highly noise sensitive users who demand near-silent operation. Its superb running smoothness, reference-class SSO2 bearing and Noctua’s trusted premium quality make it an elite choice for the highest demands. Square 140mm frame The NF-A14's square 140mm frame with 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) makes it a premium grade replacement for common 140mm case fans and perfect for use on 140mm water cooling radiators, where its square shape will ensure full coverage and best pressure performance. Read more Flow Acceleration Channels The NF-A14 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise. SSO2 Bearing The NF-A14 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability. Integrated anti-vibration pads Integrated anti-vibration pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard screws and other mounting systems. • Can only tell it is on by looking at it
Very very quiet. Put on my cable modem which has a tendency to overheat. i think i am going to replace all my other fans with these

  • A must for your quiet build.
With the noise adapters, two of these fans where quieter than my previous single inexpensive 120mm fan intake, and obviously my whole system is cooler now. You need this fan. Only downside is that the anti-vibration mounts didn't fit in my case's screw holes. Don't think it matters. The build quality of these fans makes sure don't vibrate. Again, you need this fan. ... show more

  • Best standard form-factor 140mm I've used.
I bought this because I needed a 140mm fan with a standard, square frame to fit my case's odd front-intake mounting system. It seems that the few 140mm fans that don't suck are of the 120mm mounting hole variety, which are handy for heatsink placement but wind up being a hassle as case fans. Noctua's previous 140mm fan was, in my opinion, one of their less impressive products. The A14 finally gives Noctua a 140mm fan worth their name. Its bearing runs silky smooth, and the fan is near-inaudible beyond 12 inches, running at 800 rpm while moving more than sufficient air for a properly laid out case. An intake fan doesn't need to blow leaves off your components; it just needs to provide current that reaches far enough to lower the case's ambient air temp in the right places. Noc has moved beyond mere acoustics to engineer some fans that produce refined, focused current. The result is a fan that doesn't seem like it's pushing a ton of air, but manages to be effective in getting it where it needs to be. I noticed temp drops compared to my previous fan (a fairly high quality one at that) that was running 100rpm faster. The silicon dampeners are a nice touch, though really the fan is balanced and smooth running enough that they probably aren't even necessary. It comes with a voltage limiter, but the thing is so quiet at its 800rpm full speed that I can't imagine ever using it. That attached wiring is rather short, but an extension is included. That's actually nice, since for placements where you don't need much length it prevents having a bunch of slack. Now Noctua just needs to offer some different colors. I'm not hung-up on their current color like some people are, but some coloring that isn't so conflicting with just about every case interior would be nice. ... show more

  • Super quiet and glad it included a low-speed adapter cable.
I really love this fan and bought two of them to replace a couple of defective system fans in the PC case. Without attaching the low-noise filter (basically they added a resister to lower the DC voltage), the fans ran too fast and we noticeably noisy. Just realize that while 3-pin fans can be plugged into 4-pin headers on the mobo, they cannot be controlled via PVM, only DC power. For me, I wanted quiet system fans since I don't do gaming and therefore my rig will not usually run hot, so the low-voltage adapter cables were simple to attach and lower the fan speeds to adequate levels and therefore run much more quietly than otherwise. ... show more

  • Low profile fans, max rpm is 800.
Low profile fans, doesn’t push much air. Quiet but I kinda disappointed a bit as I thought the rpm can reach to 1200. It doesn’t push enough air and can be used basically just for air flow in the case. A bit overpriced for my opinion, hopefully will least for long time.

  • Noctua Premium Fan for a truly silent system. Great fan.
This review is short. I ordered this to keep my cable box (HD-DVR) from misbehaving. I noticed it runs hot and I grabbed a cpu fan on a wimp and gave it a try by placing it on top of the unit. It cooled the box nicely but the noise was ridiculous. But the box started to work well without needing to reset often. So I looked and looked for a silent fan. Although bigger than I thought I needed, I went with this unit. It comes in a beautiful package with lots of extras. I ended it connecting it with the additional wire reducer for a total silent operation. You can't hear it at all when the equipment is completely off. I have a nice Home Theater system and no fans run when everything is off. The Noctua is the only one 24/7. And you can't hear it at all. And that was what I wanted. Funky color which is visible slightly over the box but overall great product. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Decent but a little disappointing.
Great packaging and lots of adapter and screws as with any Noctura product. I used this to replace an older power supply fan that was getting very noisy and I now have control of the fan integrated into my motherboard's fan control software. Only complaint is that when the fan is run above 20% it becomes very audible, though below that setting you can't even tell it is on. I'm a little disappointed compared to the NF-P12 120MM CPU cooler I just added that can't be heard below 60%, but overall I've got a stealthy system and a new lease on my PSU's life. I actually ended up using the low noise adapter cable to slow down / quiet one of my 240MM case fans as well, so that's an added bonus. ... show more

  • Great fans but with one glaring flaw.
Let's get this out of the way, yes these fans are great. Silent, and they move a ton of air. Ugly as sin but you knew that already. My one and only complaint is the fact that these fans have to start with 12 volts. Which means if you have a case with a fan controller (or an aftermarket one) you have to have it on high before these will start spinning. Otherwise they'll just twitch a little without doing much for airflow. Also this vastly decreases the lifespan of the motors if you leave it like that for too long. Once they're started they'll run on low voltage just fine, they just need the high volts to get started spinning. I haven't tried the low noise adapters yet because I haven't had a need to, as I can't hear them through my case (Fractal Design Define R4) unless I put my ear up to the front grille. ... show more
