This Tool has truly come through in the clutch for me on multiple occasions. Within just 20 minutes of opening the package, it proved its worth when I was faced with a challenging situation. Style: Claw Grabber with LED light
Maybe they've improved things over time. All I can say is, the build quality and general feel of this item, for the price, is superlative. I have decades of experience with very cheap versions of this type of tool - the only kind that I ever came across - which did the job, but offered no pleasure as a tool in themselves. This one does. It feels sturdy, operates smoothly, the 4 claws are very evenly matched (important in this tool). The batteries for the light were packaged separately for me to insert. The light works perfectly. Came with very nice instructions. The integral magnetic tip (operative if the claws are not out) is fine. The rated 5 pounds pull might be a bit overstated, but I don't see this as a flaw - with a tool like this you're not (or shouldn't be) trying to deal with weight like that (there are other magnetic wands made that cater to this scale). I've discarded my existing cheap versions of this tool. The only downside of this tool compared to the cheap versions I had is that it won't fit through as small a hole/space. The cheap ones can get through 1/4" - this tool probably requires 1/2". I don't see this as a problem. ... show more

Purchased due to doing some work on a Ducati and not wanting to lose hardware when it falls into the "Great Ducati Abyss." A screw popped off and fell down, and I could not see the screw as it was black and blended in with everything else. I took this tool, ran it along the area, and it was able to secure the screw. Great quality product. I never did get the light working and I'm not worried about that really so I didn't return it. It would definitely be a 5 star if the light in the middle of the claw worked. I tried all kinds of stuff but haven't tried new batteries. Anyway, great product for the price, well constructed, sturdy, and I used it multiple times on screws that shot off into my computer case when I was building my new system. End is magnetic, but not so strong as to worry around a motherboard. ... show more

I got this for a friend who loves to geocache. For the uninitiated, geocaching is a game where fully grown adults play pirate and hide little trinkets in inconspicuous, inconvenient locations for similarly obsessed bloodhound pirate squirrels to find, using all of the tricks and resources available to modern man. A magnetic pickup tool is considered to be an essential “tool of the trade.” As a former auto mechanic, I can attest to their practicality in retrieving items that have fallen into inaccessible places. After doing some research, this item looked to be reasonably priced, of good quality, and with the most powerful magnet. It did not disappoint. You should have seen her nerdy little eyes light up when she got this as a stocking stuffer for Christmas. Priceless! Never bend over to pick up your car keys again. Makes a good back scratcher too. With the combination of grabber, light, and magnet, there is darn little this will not pick up or at least move to a better place to pick up. It ought to come with a belt scabbard so it is always handy.
