  • The end-all-be-all for daily use watches.
Color: Black
This watch has survived hundreds of showers, dozens of pool days, extensive and almost abusive forms of wear and tear, yet this thing still functions as fine as the day I got it. I have taken it off for an accumulative 4 weeks since I bought it 10 months ago and has seen dust, mud, rain, snow, seawater, and a thousand knocks into my surroundings as my forearm hits something. No scratch on the glass. Minimal paint wear. All buttons work. Beeping is high-pitched and annoying; perfect to wake up to and it doesn't travel into enemy territory. No worn screws or pins over these 10 months; I did not need to replace anything since nothing has broke. Minimal wear on the wrist strap. Wrist strap is still comfortable. I don't feel my watch unless I'm thinking about feeling it. 3 alarms 2 stopwatches 1 timer (able to be used at one time; multiple presets + customizable and changeable timer) This is much better than I had bargained for. It doesn't stand out as a $150 watch by looks alone, but people who just touch it and feel the aluminum (or whatever metal it is) frame can suddenly believe that its price tag is real. This watch has saved me money and time, because cheap $20 watches break in a month, and I get off-schedule while I'm waiting on the replacement. I am very glad I that I made the risk to purchase this. Let me assure you: this is the only watch you will ever need. It will survive everything short of deliberate and intentional attacks with tools like hammers in an attempt to destroy it. (and even then, something tells me it would still keep ticking...) ... show more

  • Worth the difference in money from Gshock.
Color: Black
Been wearing every day since July19. High quality. Has taken some clumsy hard smashes into walls, door jambs, and trees. The only paint that shows the mildest of wear is on the edges of the six screws around the bezels. The rest of the watch looks perfect. It's much easier to read than my last gshock, and about as comfortable. The display still looks good, and j have onlg had the display change twice from accidentally pushing the buttons from bending my wrist. If i had to choose between a Gshock and the Regulus, I would choose this watch every time. Definitely worth the extra 50 bucks. The buttons are way easier to use, and the adjustable backlight is something i didn't realize i would appreciate as much as I do. The only complaint that I have about this watch, (the same complaint I have with the gshock) is when the watch face gets really cold, condensation forms on the inside of the crystal. I think the only way this might be avoided is if you assembled the watch in a really low humidity environment. ... show more

  • Solid Watch! Solid Watch!
After playing around with the watch and overcoming the initial overwhelming excitement and feeling of getting something new, along with learning something new... I like this watch a lot. It really is simple as described. It has all the main functions you need to be operable in a high optempo environment without feeling like you'll potentially trip over buttons and multiple screens. Also when they say durable, they must mean it because this is a solid watch. You can feel the density but it's still pretty comfortable to wear. The materials are far from cheap. The wristband is great; the tail end of the band is secured and won't slip out easily as some watches do. I have a Garmin Vivo Active HR which I like to use on a normal basis for the smart functions but sometimes it just has too much going on, plus the band slips out sometimes. I can't wait to take this out to the field and give it a good run. I'll give an update after this summer and let you all know how it goes. ... show more

  • great Watch but Takes Some Getting Used To great Watch but Takes Some Getting Used To
I recently purchased this watch as a replacement for my Garmin Instinct. I really liked the Instinct for its ruggedness while also having most of the functionality of a smart watch, however the Instinct’s downfall was its battery life. This watch is a great balance between convenience, style, and durability. I love that I don’t need to charge the watch and that I can bang it around without worrying about breaking it. The only complaint I have about this watch is its extremely stiff wrist band. After wearing it everyday for a few weeks, the band has certainly broken in a bit and feels slightly less rigid. However, the small retaining band that holds the actual watch bands slack is still uncomfortably stiff and sharp on its corners. I feel conflicted because even the that piece is extremely uncomfortable, Nixon actually put some thought into its function compared to most, watch manufacturers. The retaining band is nice and tight around the band, and it even has a notch cut out to fit over the small extrusion on the end of the bands slack. This is a great feature for anyone that gets annoyed with silicone watch bands constantly needing to be readjusted due to the band slipping out from the retainer. Another problem I have with the watch is it’s inability to have the backlight enabled 24/7. I understand that this would seriously drain the battery, but it would be a nice feature to enable in bright environments. This watch can be difficult to read in broad daylight and you will need to look at it from an angle or cover it with a shadow to do so on especially sunny days. I will say that the screen itself is super durable. I actually had some slag/spatter hit the face of the watch while I was welding something recently and the screen remained intact, though it now has several small superficial indentations/holes from the molten metal melting the glass. This is an everyday watch for me so I’m not concerned about the blemishes on the face, but I am very happy that the face remained crack free. Overall this is a great watch if you’re looking to get back to the basics. It is pretty expensive for what you receive, so I can’t recommend buying it full price if you can help it. That isn’t to say that I don’t think it’s worth it, I just think Nixon is marking the price up unnecessarily high. Beyond these minor grievances, I have nothing but good things to say about the watch and hope that it lasts me many years to come. ... show more

  • Great Watch, happy with purchase
Color: Black
I have owned G-Shock's for years, and wanted to switch up the look without losing the dependability that they offered and this was the best possible option and I am really happy with it. It is a bit larger than I am used to but not so much that it looks or feels weird. The functions are simple and straight forward so it only took about 2 minutes to learn all the functions and how to set it. The buttons are easy to access and large enough for my fat fingers lol....Most of all my wife approves and allows me to wear it both as a work watch and a "nice" watch. My only hope is it lasts as long as my last work watch which was 9 years....We will see, but it seems built well enough. ... show more

  • Great watch. Recommend
Color: Black
Great looking watch. The looks are 5 stars. Also extremely easy to operate and very clear to see all the numbers. I’m not sure why a lot of the reviews said it was hard to see the numbers but I don’t have trouble seeing them whatsoever even out in the sun without turning on the light. The only con about this watch is that it’s very simple and it doesn’t have any more features than your normal little cheap watch. So for $150 you are mainly paying for the brand which after all I’m ok with because I am a huge Nixon fan and they make great durable watches. ... show more

  • Decent Watch
Writing this review based on the advertised intended purpose. The band is as good as I have ever seen from the basic latch-through-hole type. The retainer that holds the excess is slotted so that it stays put which is amazing. The material is comfortable. The sand color quickly fades to black along the edges with heavy use. Only on the band. I can't tell if it's dirt and grease that won't wash out or if the color is actually fading but it's pretty uniformly turning black along the corners of the material. The button layout is simple to learn and now that I've used it for a while, very useful. There are 4 buttons with the light being the only purpose of one of them. When editing any number you can increment both up and down. The hard-to-press buttons are exactly right. The frequency of accidental presses is the lowest of any watch I've owned so far. The backlight is the worst part of this watch. It is way too bright. It's enough affect your eyes' adjustment to the dark. I've never had a watch backlight I could use as a reading light and that's the lowest light setting. Unless you actually want to use the watch as a dim flashlight the two higher light settings are totally worthless. With so much focus on making it low observable the lack of a dim backlight setting is a failure. It makes me think this backlight was designed and tested in a well lit room. Luckily the hard to press buttons mean I can leave the light function on and only use it when I am prepared for it. It does have adjustable display time 1,2,or 3 seconds, and when it really matters the light function can be disabled. To be clear the backlight is too bright for use in the dark when visibility, not to mention your own vision, matter. Otherwise this won't affect you negativity. The negative display is really good. The text and numbers have a sort of soft reflective property. It's good enough that if the moon is out you can read the watch without the light by holding it just right. The watch has dual time but it doesn't actually state anywhere in the instructions that the selected time is what the alarms are based on. It would have been nice to pick which clock the alarm was synced to since it's a single button to switch the dual time which would change any active alarms to unintended times. I constantly use the dual time switch which makes using any alarms a tricky business. Speaking of the alarms there are three of them which are easy to set up. Unfortunately, there is no indicator outside the alarm page that you have any on. Which makes the silent function even more handy for a bad reason in my opinion. There are two stopwatches which I have found use for both on multiple occasions and it's nice to see the time on the stopwatch page and both stopwatches on the time page. I say the word stopwatch but they only pause/resume and do not have lap times so chronometer is the better word. There is a timer, but as I have seen others state, it's an oddly limited little thing compared to the other features. It maxes out at 60 minutes. For some reason there are several preset times and the custom time option is the last selection. The preset times are not editable and are 7,10,15,20,30,40, and 60 minutes. You can only run one timer. All-in-all the best digital watch I've ever owned. For being the best digital watch I've ever owned it's also a deal more expensive. In my opinion the impact to usefulness from the way the alarms interact with dual time and the brightness of the backlight combined with the price cost two stars. For use as a daily driver on a single clock I think the only greivance would be the limited timer. You would get a 5 star experience with this watch in that case. ... show more

  • This watch is a Tank This watch is a Tank
Color: Black
I never write reviews, and while I had a good feeling about this watch based on the other reviews at time of purchase, I wanted to wait a bit to write my own review. Well then 2020 happened and I’m writing this review 4 years later. This watch is amazing and has held up to daily wear for four years - worn while wrenching on bikes and reaching up under Jeeps, worn during every workout and mountain bike ride. Very solid and has taken some hard hits. I’ve had Casios and Timex watches explode apart at the band from less action. This watch is a Tank. While I’m not keen to try, it feels like it could stop a bullet. The pic I took to show the scratches and wear, I tried to get the most direct sunlight and then used a high contrast filter to make the scratches show the most. Honestly in normal light and normal use the scratches on the glass are barely noticeable to me, and the wear on the bezel looks more like patina. The original battery is going strong (I assume in part to the low output of the display). The wristband doesn’t stink or collect much grime, but ever few showers I make sure to get under there with soapy water and scrub. I have had the end of the wrist strap pop out of the “ring” a few times, but because of the design of the buckle, and the thickness of the strap, the strap never came out completely. I know on other sports watches I’ve had a watch fly off or even get lost when this happens. In conclusion, the Nixon is subtle/classy enough to wear at an office job, but tanky enough you can wear it for sports, or even physical labor/wrenching on vehicles. I don’t want a new watch that will break every year; I want One Watch to Rule Them All - and the Nixion delivers. ... show more
