  • Great Product, but packaging is not discreet
This works great, is attractive, and is a great value for the price. I recommend buying whole beans and grinding them fresh when using this to get the best experience. Don't expect this to make several cups of coffee at once, or in the same amount of time as a "normal" coffee pot. This product is purely for providing aesthetic value to making one delicious cup of coffee at a time. The flavor of the final product is a little weak, but that could just be because we haven't fine-tuned our skills yet. Overall, its affordable, makes a delicious cup of coffee, and is a beautiful object to watch. You'll feel like a steampunk mad-scientist mixed with Sherlock Holmes. The only issue I had has nothing to do with the product itself, but the packaging in which I received it. This was a Christmas gift for my boyfriend, so naturally I wanted it to be a surprise. Wherever this product is packaged and shipping from, the box it comes in needs to be packaged in an amazon package when the buyer indicates that this product is a "gift" (which I did). I understand the motive of less packaging and less waste, but around the holidays many people are requesting items be shipped as gifts in a discreet manner. It came in a box that had a life-sized picture of the product on the sides. I understand that this was probably the box that the product is stored in, however my boyfriend got home before I did the day it arrived and saw his gift 2 weeks before he was supposed to. I feel extremely discouraged, but he was happy and grateful regardless. Just prepare to receive this in an very descriptive and displaying package. ... show more

  • Ridiculously fun
Takes about six minutes to make a cup of the strongest but tastiest coffee you'll ever drink. Ridiculous and fun. Great gift.

  • Perfect for those who don't drink a ton of coffee and want a premium tasting cup off coffee every time.
I love this coffee maker. I use it about 4 -5 times a week. It makes a very smooth cup of coffee and is always fun to watch. It is also a great conversation piece and all my coffee loving friends are jealous! It works perfectly every time. The time it takes will depend on how much coffee you are making. One small cup 350ml will take me about 8 minutes. But a full 500ml which is the most it can hold, take about 15min to make. The heat source shuts itself off so you can walk away from it while its brewing. Clean up is a breeze and takes 2 minutes at the most. I realize it is a bit more effort than some makers, but this is one of the best systems i have ever used. You can clearly taste the difference between this and a electric coffee maker using the same coffee. The fact it runs on a fuel rather than electricity makes it perfect for the off-gridder too. It makes 2 solid cups of coffee per full load. Perfect for those who don't drink a ton of coffee and want a premium tasting cup off coffee every time. ... show more

  • Great coffee maker. But packaging makes it look cheap.
The coffee maker arrived safely and well packed even though the seller ships these from overseas. There's multiple layers of cardboard and bubble wrap. Mechanism seems to work well but packaging is a miss. Unlike the photos my box is marked with both English and Chinese. The instructions are also in both English and Chinese. There are also stickers cladding the box with Chinese on it. If you were buying Chinese pottery this may look authentic but the package reads "Belgian Royal ..." This may not make the best impression if the coffee maker is a gift; it can give off the impression of looking cheap even though you likely paid more for it than the average coffee maker. I have nothing against products made in China. Many high quality products are also produced in part (or wholly) in China. The problem is how prominently the Chinese presence is on the packaging compared to average goods; compounded with Belgian in the product name of a higher end product. ... show more

  • Good coffee
A couple parts seem fairly cheap(fill cap and tap), but they work for what they need to do. The product overall is neat and makes great coffee. Not as big as I was expecting(at 500ml max)... probably my own fault for overlooking the size so that's ok.

  • Definitely not for those in a rush.
Great talking point in any kitchen. Really cool to show someone for the first time they come over, but this is definitely not for those in a hurry. A cup will take in the neighborhood of 30-40 mins. Also make sure to buy and use “clean burning” kerosene. Otherwise you’ll scorch the bottom of the pot and be cleaning up some tar-like substances. ... show more

  • Something fancy for decor and brewing.
I bought this cause of a YouTube short by Peter McKinnon. This is beautifully crafted and makes a nice smooth hot cup of coffee, also makes good tea as well. Room temperature water will take about 13-15mins to brew but you can add hot water into the pot to speed the process. If you're OK with the wait its an awesome piece to look at while it brews. ... show more
