This is a beautiful futon! I chose the green color and it is a true green and so pretty! It adds such color to my study!! The futon mattress is queen size and it is comfortable and very, very soft. I am so happy with my purchase. It took us 1 hour and a half to put the futon together. You need two people to assemble it. Do the back FIRST. Then the bottom SECOND. Then the frame THIRD. You have to line everything up well. It’s a little heavy but quite manageable. I am using it as a couch for my study, which I also work in. It looks really elegant with the sides that provide a place to put a lap top as well as your phone, etc. I did but the futon cover separately but didn’t need it as I’m using a handmade bedspread that’s embroidered. It goes so beautifully with it. I was truly amazed at how nicely it was packaged. It arrived exactly when Amazon gave the estimate for which was about 2 weeks. I read ALL of the reviews before purchasing this. I paid over $600 for this futon in the queen size. It is worth the money. Thank you for making a great product ... show more

Very glad that I didn't go with the bad reviews. Everything came in early. Frame was delivered first and the mattress the next day. Everything was without a scratch. It took me about 3 hours to put together but only because I had nothing better to do. I was drinking wine and watching tv while putting it together. The instructions were easy to read and follow. It was also easy to put together as long as you follow the instructions. When it says leave everything loose, you need to leave it loose. Personally, i only gave each dolt 3 turns and it turned out perfect. I was confused on the very last step but my common sense took over! There was nothing to it! It is however hard to maneuver into the couch position. I'm 25 and struggle a little bit but it's definitely doable by myself. Very sturdy and rigid frame. The mattress was the color I wanted. After a long time worrying about what color I should get it really didn't matter because I bought sheets for it. I bought it as my everyday bed because I got the smaller bedroom of our apartment. Super comfortable to sleep in! The mattress is firm but it's not uncomfortable for me and I don't like hard beds. Looks and works as advertised! Super happy about this purchase. As an intro. This is a nice futon. Nicer than any futon I've ever had and I'm a bum who likes utility over tradition, so I like futons. The side tables are a nice addition. When folded down, you wouldn't even know they were there. The wood is nice and it almost doesn't feel right having such nice looking material used for a futon. I would buy this futon again. My gripes. This futon has a kind of string holding the cover at the tasteful indentations. When I first lifted it up, I pulled on the cover, ripping the nearest string, and now there's an indentation missing. It was too easy. I was just picking it up to move it. Be careful. Also, the simple design flaw. There are two pieces of a futon, the backrest and the "seat," that are separate frames with supporting beams within them. Unfortunately, the inner beams are recessed from the outer frame. So, when you lay the frames down, and they meet in the middle, you get a middle "beam" that juts out more than the surrounding beams. And, if you're sleeping solo, you are likely to sleep in the middle right on top of this beam. Since the bed is not as solid as a mattress, it transmits the surface below it above it and you feel the beam. It's not too bad though. Also, if you get the thicker mattress, it will be difficult to fold back into an upright couch. The folding mechanism is clever and elegant but lacks the versatility of mechanisms common to metal futon frames. It may require two people to change. I can say it requires me, solo, more force than I would like to use. Every time I flip it up I'm concerned with wear over time, and the potential for it snap after that time. All of that said. It's a nice futon for the price and it will allow you some class allow with your utility. I wish I could do 4.5 stars. ... show more

I received the frame about 4 days before the mattress so I was able to assemble it in advance. Instruction was straight forward and I was able to put it together mostly alone in about 1.5 hours in a leisurely manner. I used the provided tools - no power tools. I needed help to place the seat on the base. I don’t think anyone could do that alone. It looks great and is well constructed. Worth the price. The mattress is still airing out, but was super soft and comfortable right out of the box! The 2 of the 3 boxes are heavy. I used a hand truck to move them into the house. I am female - for reference to what may or may not be heavy to you. I ordered the navy blue mattress and received it as expected - unlike one review that I read which stated navy is darker or black in color. Overall very pleased that I selected this one. Also, I contacted the company to inquire about the mattress shipment and they were very responsive. ... show more

    • Huge pain to clean! Comfy, sturdy, and HEAVY

The frame is great and sturdy, except for the piece that fell off. The mattress is heavy and difficult for me to lift alone. The fabric is HELL to clean because it’s linen, which I didn’t know when I ordered. Every drop spilled becomes a stain, including water! I should have absolutely sprayed this with scotch guard because hand cleaning with a shampooer gave me a wrist cramp for days, and the mattress still has water marks. We use a cover, and it’s very comfortable to sleep on, but looking back at how much I paid, I would not repeat the purchase. ... show more
