Description

In Nioh 3, players take on the role of Tokugawa Takechiyo, poised to become the next Shogun during Japan’s turbulent Sengoku period. In the shadows, Takechiyo’s younger brother, Tokugawa Kunimatsu, consumed by hatred towards his brother’s succession, plots to overthrow him. Empowered by a sinister force, he leads a horde of yokai in a fierce assault on Takechiyo, abruptly ending the era of peace and plunging Japan into hell. Guided by the mysterious power of his guardian spirit Kusanagi, Takechiyo transcends time to survive this kingdom in dire straits and become Shogun. The story of Nioh 3 will unfold on a larger scale than ever before in series history. Covering various eras and regions, Nioh 3 includes Edo Castle and the Tōtōmi region during the Sengoku period, which players were able to explore in the Alpha demo, as well as the recently unveiled Kyoto, the capital of the Heian period. Players will also be able to freely explore each era in open-field experience, featuring beautiful and distinct environments. During his perilous quest to foil his brother’s conspiracy, Takechiyo will face various yokai and other powerful enemies, while taking on the challenge of the Crucible.

  • A good game
Edition: Standard Edition
If you like souls like games this game will give you the challenge your looking for. Don't worry it's a stand alone title that doesn't tie into the other nioh stories so you can play this as your first nioh game no problem.

  • Not an easy playthrough.. you will be tested.
Edition: Standard Edition
I decided to take on the challenge of Nioh and defeated Nioh 1 + 2 over quite a long period of time. This game control is DEEP.. weapons and items are huge and an open world is great. I'm a Japanese culture geek so it's fun to play the game.. but even being a Koei/Japan/Samurai guy I will admit it can be very frustrating to take on enemies that are always much more powerful than you. If you're not the best at video games.. use the ohcoko cups to get help from people online so you can progress. Some of these boss's are pretty difficult. Overall happy.. story is a bit difficult to follow but overall I like the game. ... show more

  • One Nioh to Rule them All
Edition: Standard Edition
Ladies and gentlemen, they did it. I thought there was no way they could top Nioh 2, but this game manages to build on its complex world, combat and systems while establishing its own identity, giving us massive open world maps and the new Ninja form, a literal game-changer and a brand new way to play. They've also added not one, but two(!) satisfying deflect (parry) mechanics, so you Sekiro lovers out there, I can't stress this enough: play this game! Just be prepared because the parry windows are teeny-tiny and missing them is unforgiving. I've heard people say this Nioh is the easiest and that's not exactly true. It IS the most approachable, with an open world that offers a lot of optional, modest challenges if you want to hunt for treasure, farm xp to improve your stats or just hone your skills. At first I was skeptical about the open world format because I was worried about filler (ever play a Ubisoft game?), but it quickly grew on me to the point uncovering its secrets (and Kodama!) region by region became addictive, even if a good bit of it was less difficult than other Nioh games. (Especially for dedicated fans who remember the classic enemies and their movesets.) Now the main missions are another story. Adrenaline junkies, these are for you. The enemies are much stronger and tougher than in the open world. The bosses without exception are fast and punishing, even the tutorial boss, so don't expect a walk in the park. Souls fans know, though, the ultra hard difficulty makes victory sooo sweet. And this game offers you an insane amount of new tools and tricks to level the playing field. The high difficulty necessitates finding them, learning them, equipping them, using them...or you'll be in for a looong battle or a swift and brutal defeat. I feel like the only downside of this game is the graphics. Too be clear, it's not unpleasant to look at by any means; the art direction is beautiful. Here's the thing. I'm on the Pro, kind of a graphics snob, so it is disappointing they're using the same engine as the original game. I can't help but wonder what it would look like if they gave us more modern visuals. Still, even if it's not a technical wonder on that front, rest assured the combat and traversal animations are perfectly polished (as usual). You see a lot of AAA games using top of the line engines but giving awkward, janky animations. (I'm looking at you Ghost of Whatever.) Not the case here. Last point: like any Nioh game, there is a ton of content, even more than the other Nioh games (with more to come)! So if you're on a budget, why spend $70 on some little 12-hour AAA experience you'll forget about in a week? With this baby, you can know you're getting your money's worth, because it will keep you busy for months and months. And months. There is...so much...yet it never gets stale. You just want more. To sum up, this is not the most modern-looking thing on the market, but once you give it a chance, you will be hooked. Whether you're new to the series or a veteran, sinking your teeth into a Nioh game with all its depth and scope beats playing modern AAA slop any day of the week. ... show more

  • Disappointing!
Edition: Standard Edition
Unfortunately, this game was not so great as I had hoped. I really think this game is a step back not forward from Nioh 2. It looks like this Samurai/Ninja style combat mechanic butchered some of the melee weapons particularly, the splitstaff which ended up not being as strong and versatile as it was in Nioh 2! Other changes I didn't like was the fact that magical items being linked to soul cores. I also didn't like that the scampuss don't follow you around like they did in Nioh 2! Furthermore, you can't sell equipment at the blacksmith like you could in the first two games. Instead, you sell them at the Sudama for a very small amount of gold. After playing this game for two weeks, I became disappointed with the realization of all these things and decided to return the game. I don't know about you, but I think that Team Ninja made a step in the wrong direction with this game and I feel that this has ruined the Nioh franchise. ... show more

  • Best Team Ninja Game Yet
Edition: Standard Edition
I purchased this on the PS store digitally. Best addition to the series so far and a standout open world ARPG. Technically it is an open field game with a mix of locked in mission zones and open zones. From Nioh 2 the biggest improvements are in the combat, now you have 2 styles you can freely switch between with 2 entirely different equipment sets. ... show more
