Bottom Line: If you're looking for a device that does what this does, at a cheaper price, that works with a Nintendo Switch, stick to ASIX AX chipsets in the USB dongles you buy. They’re plug-and-play, reliable, and fully supported by the Switch's OS. No headaches.

Game changer
It’s been so long since I bought this. Still works well, especially for me since I stream and hosting servers requires a solid connection that you just aren’t going to get on WiFi. Def seen an improvement in connection quality throughout the games I play. Once I plugged it in, I basically forgot about it since it works without issue.

Licensed and Wired is almost always better
I've got fast internet and strong wifi but wifi is still wifi--it is slightly slower and subject to interference, and thus dropouts. Given that the Switch has a locked OS there are limited tools we have to prove the worth of an adapter like this. Here is what I can say: - Download speeds are considerably faster over a Cat 6 cable to an Apple Airport Extreme to Verizon FiOS - Upload speeds are the same - I haven't found a way to test ping times so I don't know how much those have improved (if they have improved at all) - I haven't been disconnected from any Splatoon 2 matches since installing a month ago. Typically over wifi I'd get dropped mid-match about once or twice a month - I have still been 'unable to connect' when initiating matches, though as I understand it this has more to do with others' poor connections than mine - This has not made my reflexes any faster :-( So on balance, this works, won't transform your life in any magical way but is The Right Thing to do as a courtesy to yourself and other players if you spend a lot of time gaming online.

Buy with confidence, works great, worth a few dollars more than the cheap ones.
My kid has had a couple of different off brand adapters to connect her Nintendo Switch directly to the router and when she asked me to find her a new one, this is what I decided on. The fact that it is officially licensed by Nintendo gave me confidence that it should work and made it worth the few dollars extra that it cost over the cheapest models. It worked great right out of the box and when the kid loses this one, and she will, I'll buy this one again.

Works perfectly
OEM adapter, but it's actually made/sold by Hori. Easy installation, and it works perfectly when set up. The console recognizes it immediately. The only downside is that it's more expensive than a USB to Ethernet adapter should ever be.

Bearable
It does work to “stabilize” the terrible wifi performance of the Nintendo Switch, making ping count to stay quiet without 1000 numbers peaks. You can't expect flawless performance on a Nintendo Switch when we talk about online internet games, it's poor quality. BUT, this little nice device makes your life better and makes dealing with online games on Switch more bearable.
