Description

Nightforce was born in 1992 with the vision that everything we build will meet this promise. For nearly three decades, we have designed and built optics and mounting systems that have been tested in the harshest conditions on earth. Whether you are preparing for a deployment, your next shift, a world championship, or the hunt of a lifetime, thank you for putting your trust in the optical performance, consistent tracking, and durability of your Nightforce. If you are purchasing your first Nightforce, we are excited for you to experience why we are the choice of USSOCOM, numerous other special operation units worldwide, world champion competitive shooters, and the world's most discerning hunters. There is no such thing as "mass production" at Nightforce. Only a skilled human eye and experienced hands are sensitive enough to perform many of the critical operations involved in assembling a precision optical instrument. Before they leave the factory, Nightforce scopes are subjected to conditions far beyond most anything you will ever encounter in the field. The scopes are hand-checked for tracking accuracy and overall integrity. We test and inspect to ensure your Nightforce will work when you need it most. For over 20 years, Nightforce NXS scopes have defined Rugged, Reliable, Repeatable by performing impeccably in the most brutal, unforgiving environments on earth. NXS scopes are still trusted in combat, on duty, and on trophy hunts throughout the world. The NXS laid the foundation of our design philosophy that we built upon for our ATACR and NX8 product lines. The battery of tests Nightforce developed to ensure the ruggedness of the NXS scopes became the standard by which all Nightforce scopes are tested. This includes the side and front impact - a test that would destroy ordinary optics. The NXS family is a legend to Nightforce and that legend lives on in all our products. After sighting in your gun, simply set the ZeroStop, and you create a positive mechanical stopping point at your chosen zero point. Then, no matter how many elevation adjustments you make, turning the elevation knob down to the ZeroStop setting returns you to your original zero, completely by feel—even in total darkness or while wearing gloves. Nightforce’s analog illumination system powers adjustable brightness, red illuminated reticles in most NXS scopes. NXS scopes with analog illumination are turned on by pulling the illumination control knob out and brightness is adjusted using a small screwdriver. DigIllum digital reticle illumination technology is available in select Nightforce scopes. As Nightforce’s premier illumination system, Digillum increases convenience and functionality in a single button control. Choose the appropriate illumination setting for your lighting conditions—either red or green, in five intensities from very dim to extremely bright.

  • Money well spent!
Style: MOAR - 20 MOA
I was impressed by this scope when I took it out of the box, but I wanted to get some range time with it before I wrote a review. I waited a while before actually purchasing it, not because I didn't think it was a great scope but because that is a lot of money to shell out for a scope. I did my research on it and knew it would be great, well I finally purchased it and WOW! After it was delivered I went to my garage and set it up on am makeshift stand (I did not have the mount yet). I sighted it down my driveway on a bank across the road from my driveway, by the way the distance is 90 yards. I dialed the power up to 32 and adjusted the parallax. I sighted on a dandelion and I could clearly see the individual petals on the flower, if a bee had been buzzing around it I would be able to see it clearly. I received the mount a day or two later, I would highly recommend a quality mount. I went with the nightforce x-treme duty ultralite unimount. I spent a lot of money on the scope so I wasn't going to skimp on the mount, I would suggest that you do the same. Range day: I am fortunate enough that my father owns a large piece of property and a hunting cabin, so I have built and use my own private range. It is currently 300 yards but I am working on extending it to 600 yards. I zeroed the scope and began working on my steel targets. I set up three sillouettes at 100, 200 and 300 yards. If you haven't shot on steel targets then you are missing out on something great. I am hooked on steel. My targets are set up on brackets that slide over and lock on steel T-fence posts and are attatched to the bracket by a grade 8 carriage bolt. I could see the grade lines in the carriage bolt at 100 yards. At 300 yards I could clearly see the bumps on the front side of the posts. I was dialed up to 32x and the size of the 12"x20" target in the scope was large. Like I mentioned earlier I could not only see the post, but the details of the post at 300 yards. The scope dialed in quickly and very precise and I myself only shooting at the top 4"x4" projection of the target. I would like to point out that I am not shooting some high dollar custom precision rifle, it is a Remington model 700 VLS heavy barrel in 308. The only thing that has been done to the rifle is a trigger job. I was rewarded with sub MOA groups at 300 yards. I quickly discovered that if I shot high on the 4"x4" section of the target, that it would rock back and slide down to the bottom of the post. I found this to be a fun little game and repeated it several time at 100, 200 and 300 yards. The bottom line is, yes this is an expensive scope. I was worried that it would not meet with my expectations and after spending $2400 on it and the mount and that would be tragic. If that is your concern I assure you that this scope is worth every penny. It is very well built and the optics are amazing. The scope can take a lot of abuse as well. watch some of the nightforce torture test videos on youtube. I saved up for this scope for a while and I know if will serve me well for many years to come, probably a lifetime. Thankyou to the folks at Nightforce for building a high quality product, I look forward to many more range sessions. Thankyou for reading this long review, if you are anything like me then you do a lot of research before buying. THIS SCOPE IS WORTH THE MONEY!!! The best advice I can give is buy the highest quality equipment you can, even if you have to save for a while, that goes for anything. Quality doesn't cost, it pays. ... show more

  • NXS Night Force
Style: MOAR-T
Recently purchased, have not mounted to rifle yet. Bought for the MOA/MOA turret and reticle being the same. Leupold user for many years, am changing sides and I hope I like it. Well built from what I see already and it has features not found in my old Mk 4 Leupold. Time will tell after I learn the features and get it dialed in. Pleasantly surprised to discover a 3" sunshade inside the package so I cancelled an order for the same sunshade from another vendor and saved 31 dollars already!! Update to follow when I start using it. Recently purchased, have not mounted to rifle yet. Bought for the MOA/MOA turret and reticle being the same. Update to follow when I start using it. Update: Great scope and after getting a 100 yard zero, works like a champ. I discovered that dialing in different magnifications requires a bit of muscle to rotate the barrel. Checked with Night Force and they advised it is stiff, on purpose, as there are numerous O-rings in that section for waterproofing and to pass the DoD requirements for acceptance by US forces. I had to buy a throw lever for this scope to get a bit more leverage when dialing up or down on the magnification settings but that was an easy mounting job. I selected a 3D machined throw lever from MK Machining that will specifically fit this scope and now it is a lot easier to adjust; still stiff because of the O-rings inside but the added leverage makes a difference. Couple of shots to illustrate the lever. White grease pencil mark is for reference to the specific magnification for ranging purposes and easier to see when in prone position. ... show more

  • It's everything it should be
Style: MOAR - 20 MOA
Good lord, it's a Nightforce. It's one of the best scopes on the market, no question. Beats nice Leupold or Nikon scopes all day. I shrunk my groups from 1/4 MOA to 1/8 MOA when I switched from a high end Steiner (which I still love) to this scope. Keep in mind that if you can't shoot consistent sub MOA groups, there are much cheaper scopes out there that will hold a zero year after year. Even ones you can dial for range and windage. The customer service is great. I had a quick question about setting the zero stop (which is a fantastic addition) and they walked me right through the issues. These are real people who love what they do. The lighted reticle was set a bit bright for me, but it's a simple adjustment inside one of the turrets. It's certainly not field adjustable, or at least adjustable in the heat of the moment, but how much do you want to worry with something like that when you're trying to shoot? I'd buy another one if I ever have another gun that shoots this well. I've got 4 sub MOA rifles, but only one that could benefit from this quality of scope. For the others, that Steiner is great (best scope I ever owned before this one) and the other has a Weaver classic v-series. It's not the greatest ever, but it holds a zero year after year. The glass is clear, but I'll refrain from adjectives like "amazing" or "crystal", because those things should be a given on anything over $700. Hopefully your not paying for clarity, although this glass is top notch, when you buy a $2k scope. If you are, spend a grand a get a Swarovski. They're clear and hold a zero. If you need truly top tier optics, go with nightforce. If you need the best long range optic, go with this NXS (for hunting and recreational Shooting, at least). Their other models are less expensive, but I truly don't think you're paying for a name with these guys: just quality and support. ... show more
