bought this Nicpro Grey Surface Primer to prep my models, but what I didn’t expect was it to absolutely judge me in a neutral, professional grey while fixing everything I did wrong. Sprayed on smoother than my excuses for buying “just one more hobby supply.” Matte finish? Oh yeah. So matte it made my gloss paints feel insecure. It grips plastic like it owes it money and dries faster than my patience when an airbrush clogs (which, shockingly, it didn’t). Coverage is solid, even, and forgiving—kind of like that one friend who says, “It’s fine,” and actually means it. No weird texture, no drama, just clean, flawless grey perfection. If you mess up after using this primer, that’s on you, not the paint. I know because I tested that theory personally. Would I buy it again? Absolutely. Would I trust it with my life? I’ve used a lot of this product. It has a smell that is its own. Not bad but there. Sprays finely and covers completely. You can apply coats one after another if you’re bored and it’s hard to overcoat. I apply it to large items of various composition and it sticks to everything the same. Doesn’t run and leaves a chalk like finish in feel. Like talcum powder. Nearly smooth with several coats even at pretty heavy application and light application. What I’m saying is it is consistent. If it wasn’t for the smell which is weird to me it would be close to perfect. Dries fast and washes out easy af. For others the smell may not be bothersome. I still give it 5 stars. Will get more when needed Btw i use this for the opposite of black( duh) for my iridescent and metallics and it is great for this purpose and delivers the appropriate affect finish. Mica mixes pronounce correctly when needing white base as well. ... show more

VERY STICKY!!!! This stuff covers well, and takes paint like a champ. It's thick, so be sure to thin it out A LOT. I played around with thinners to find a good mix, and it seems like 1/3 primer, 1/3 thinner, and 1/3 distilled water works best for me. I do 2 coats and it's just like Vallejo surface. Be careful, this stuff dries fast and WILL clog your gun. Grease your needle before you shoot this stuff or enjoy the downtime of cleaning your needle and nozzle. ... show more

Paint was shipped in a heavy cardboard box with more than enough packaging paper to keep the paint bottle from moving or being damaged. Arrived on time in good condition. The primer is a good viscosity for airbrushing right out of the bottle I didn't need to thin it further than what the seller had done. Flow and coverage is good. I just started air brushing and thought this would be a good primer to use. Boy was I wrong. Air brush clogging and sputtering until I thinned it down enough, but then it was too watery and took four sessions to get coverage that seemed good enough. Some of this was because I was a beginner and needed to tighten my airbrush nozzle tighter (with pliers). After having good luck painting a bunch of figures (with Army Painter and Vallejo) I went back to prime some additional pieces with this and it was garbage, so I decided to try some Badger Air-Brush SNR-161 Stynylrez primer that I got. Wow! What a difference! The Badger primer was good in the air brush straight out of the bottle and covered good enough in one coat, allowing me to prime figures in two or three passes (in order to get all sides/angles). ... show more
