It is definitely blackout but light still seeps in from the sides it’s a great material and the size is perfect for the window that I have. Its thickness keeps privacy at a maximum at night. And hangs nice and heavy. Sturdy. It’s not like a shower curtain as I read on another review, but because of the backing material, I can see where that comparison could be made. It does have a bit of a rubber-like consistency on back, but only time will tell if it holds good in washing. would not heat these to normal hot drying temperature when you wash. I just did light dry with a wet rag to help with wrinkles. And it got hot but not damaged. The linen type material on front is tough and thick. We hemmed the curtains 8 inches to get to 37” L. 36L wasn’t offered when I ordered them. They are nice and full, and my window is not narrow. My only complaint is the color is really paler sage green than I expected. See 2 pictures I’m posting. I still have 5 stars because they fill the need.

The NICETOWN Sage Green Linen Blackout Curtains are a fantastic addition to my room! They effectively block out light, making them perfect for my night shifts. The fabric has a lovely texture and adds a nice touch of elegance to my space. I appreciate how they help regulate temperature, keeping the room cooler during the day. However, I’ve noticed that the curtain pole is bending with frequent use, which is a bit concerning. My only minor complaint is that the curtains could be a bit thicker for added insulation, but overall, they perform well and look great. I love how light these curtains are, yet they are still 100% blackout. I had to trim a few inches off the bottom for a custom length, however I didn’t have to sew them as there are no stray threads. It was a nice, smooth cut. These don’t feel like vinyl or plastic. They’re a nice, soft fabric.

I ordered these out of desperation (in a 100 degree+ week-long heat wave) for my home office window, which gets HOT HOT sun for half the day. I put them up the moment they arrived, and while they’re a touch wrinkled, I suspect they’ll smooth out soon, or with some steam. I don't care b/c I’m suddenly on the surface of the sun with no heat tolerance. No joke—it IMMEDIATELY was dramatically cooler as soon as I hung them, and I’m really impressed that the light-blocking qualities are flawless even though it’s a very light color! It also fits the requirements of my HOA rules that the back is white (others had dark backing even though the front was light). They look pretty classy with the linen-look texture on the front side. And I also am super duper sensitive to smell (terrible migraines!), and there was barely any smell the second I took them out of the plastic bag, and was totally gone within minutes. I couldn’t be happier!
