I could not write a higher review about these! The quality is stellar, I bought them for soundproofing and winterizing an older home that was not built very well in the 50s. The walls are thin, so it is cold or hot depending on the season and you can hear your next-door Neighbors conversations. Provided exactly what I needed, the soundproofing was instantaneously different! I no longer hear my neighbors doors from their car, slamming or people driving down the street or the walking of people with their family and animals. I have noticed a significant change in how my house stays warm, I’m really excited about them for the summertime too. I got the four layer ones. And they are from the ceiling to the floor 94 inches.     • Helps dampen, or eliminate, train noise in our bedroom (Here are the 3 steps noise solution)

We bought a new house nearly 2 miles from the train tracks and thought we were safe from the noise. Once inside the BR, we were in for a rude awakening (literally and physically!). For some reason the trains blow the horns for over 3 minutes each time one passes, and that can ruin a nights sleep in a hurry. For over a year, we abandoned our master bedroom in favor of a smaller 'jack and jill' bedroom upstairs on the other side of the house away from the tracks. We didn't think we could ever sleep in that room without noise-cancelling ear plugs. Fortunately two things happened, #1) I changed mattresses and ended up standing the old mattress on its side between the bed and window. I couldn't believe that it made a difference, but it did. Inspired by that, I added the heaviest 4 ply version of these curtains, and it made it even better. Finally, I downloaded a white-noise app on my android that is somewhat tuned to the frequency of train horns (you can try white noise, brown noise, and every other 'color' of noise). All 3 steps were important, but I wouldn't have been happy with the final product without these heavy, noise blocking curtains! As for the curtains themselves, they are lovely (not that I care about looks, LOL), I used light blocking curtain rods so the curtains slide across the 'end pieces' to block more light. Colors are vivid and they look like they are made to last. Regardless, they work so well, I would buy more if they didnt last. As you can tell by the tenor of this review, I am thrilled with the curtains and consider them one of our best purchases of 2023. ... show more

I first ordered the "3 layer sound blocking" curtains from this "NICETOWN" brand and they are an absolute lie. They were so acoustically transparent I actually cut them up and used them as speaker grille cloth so they weren't useless but definitely not as advertised, Needless to say I was a little worried about spending 5x as much on these but I made the purchase based on weight alone. That was a good decision. These actually attenuate sound, these actually have MASS (make sure your curtain rod ain't weak) and they look almost identical to the cheap ones that didn't do anything. ... show more

Why didn’t I have these years ago? The blackout is perfect and the sound reduction is simply amazing. Of course it’s not going to get rid of all sound but I can say for sure it’s pretty significant. I live in a metro area with a road maybe 20ft from the front of my townhome. Since adding these to my office and bedroom it’s amazingly quiet. Sirens are reduced to slight background noise and the only things that come through still are mostly very low frequencies. ... show more

The curtains look nice, fabric is high quality, 100% black-out, but I was a bit disappointed they were not noise blocking and that was the feature I was looking forward to the most since I live by a busy road - some reviews mention noise reduction but I did not personally perceive any difference.

These curtains are truly amazing with regard to the blocking sound. We live on a very busy highway with lots of truck traffic with all the building going on in our area. I was doubtful that the curtains could help much, but boy they do. I can still hear the traffic but it is so muffled that it now sounds far off, almost a relaxing background noise rather than a speedway. It even muffles the booming base coming from so many cars these days. They may even dampen the vibration as well. Middle layer is white on one side, and black on the other, so they are calling it two layers, dust layer and sound layer. But the picture of the three layer shows a much thicker felt layer for sound isolation. The fused middle layer of the so called four layer is so thin, it can't be as effective for sound isolation as the three layer with a thicker felt layer. I purchased the four layer as I thought and extra layer could only help with sound and has the extra benefit to help with dust and it was not much more expensive. Sound was my main reason for purchasing, but with a thinner middle layer and no real fourth layer it cant be as effective for sound, so I have to go through the hassle if repacking and returning. And I'm going to stay away from this company to purchase a sound isolation curtain since in my opinion the pictures clearly show four separate layers which is not the case so I can't count on a thicker felt sound isolation layer as pictured in the three layer. ... show more
