We've used these in 3 houses now -- and this is our last home. The two layers of fabrics not only keep the cold (and extreme heat in Sacramento area) out, but also muffle road noise wonderfully. The colors are beautiful and the drapes hang perfectly. We buy oversized so that there is plenty of fabric when closed and we cover most if not ALL of the wall these drapes are on -- plus hang these ceiling to floor. It really makes a statement in a room when the drapes hang that way and surprisingly, makes all rooms look much bigger, too. Terrific quality for a terrific price! But make SURE you are getting the ones that show TWO layers (the back layer is black and the front layer is the drapery color) or you won't be as impressed when you use them. I've noticed the company sells both now and I won't ever buy another set that isn't the 2 layers. Makes all the difference. ... show more

These are much lighter and therefore easier to put up. They definitely darken the room and I cannot comment about the thermal aspect until it warms more where I live in the upper midwest of the USA. I bought it as a sound barrier. My A/C is extremely loud as is early morning traffic. With acoustic tiles I put up and this on the window, the sounds are almost gone. Have bought a few sets of these. They have a good weight, not too like so they hang nicely. The grommets on the top glide easily over the rod. Easy to get wrinkles out with warm iron. Very happy with these.

Does not blackout like other colors. I have the curtain in red and it totally blackouts the room. This orange not so much. A little disappointed since the color is perfect.
