I bought these in the olive green to go across a large bay type set of windows to block out the glare on our television. They are 52"x84" and the opening I was covering was 102". I did not take into account the amount of width that would be lost due to the pleats naturally caused by the grommets so when pulled together there's still a little gap on the edges. But I can live with it because they don't make the color I wanted in a wider size. The quality of the material is really good and thick and the black backing really does block 100% of the light coming through the windows. However, there is no direct sunlight coming through those particular windows so I can't really speak to whether they will block 100% of direct sunlight. They were pretty wrinkled coming out of the package and the directions for ironing said low heat. Low heat would NOT remove the wrinkles and I was able to set the iron hotter without causing any damage. It just took a long time to remove them. The edges of the curtains flare out which does not give them anywhere near the finish of a custom set but then you get what you pay for. I gave a 5 star rating on "sheerness" just because they aren't sheer at all which is what I wanted and an overall 4 star because of the flaring of the edges. ... show more

I waited through a Texas summer to write a review and now we’re in a snow storm in the mountains with these curtains. I got these bc our AC didn’t work well in TX with only single pane windows so we needed more help to keep the temperature down. These definitely work to keep out heat and cold. Obviously not like 20 degrees worth, but it was the difference between the AC being able to keep it at 82 instead of 90 inside the apartment (we were south-facing, not much direct sunlight). Now in the cold, it keeps my son’s room warmer than ours. For full effect, you’ll need to have no space between the wall and the curtain, so no curtain rod, and taping the curtains to the wall, but they still help with a rod (what we did in TX). Blackout-wise they’re great, light will still get in between the wall and curtain space ... show more

10/10 would recommend! High quality, fully blackout, look great, amazing price. I bought one pack of these for the baby’s nursery in 2020 because I wanted it to be really dark for naps. Even the white curtains are completely back out! There was a noticeable difference in how cool the room was during the summer (115° outside), so much so that I bought two more packs for our master bedroom and another child’s room. We just purchased more to complete the downstairs windows, and the quality is still the same in Dec 2022. They are fully blackout even without special curtain rods that curve at the ends. These curtains are just what we were looking for. We bought these curtains for a southern-facing bedroom that we are re-purposing as our “migraine room.” These curtains block out about 95% of the sunlight (the only light that gets in is on the sides and tops of the curtains where there is a gap between the wall and the curtains - next purchase will be curtain rods that turn back towards the wall), making them perfect for blocking out light for migraine sufferers! I really like these curtains. I was looking for blackout curtains and they are blackout. I sleep so much better. I also was looking for purple curtains which is a little difficult to find. At first It was not the shade I was looking for. I wanted a dark royal purple more on the blue side. These are more on the pink side. It's cool though. These are great blackout curtains! I’ve purchased several sets in different colors for my house. This set I used in a room that is 20x20 with large windows, they mute sounds and it’s amazing like waking into a sanctuary! The light blocking quality is stunning as well they are lined and in broad daylight and you couldn’t tell what time of day it is save for the tiny sliver of light from the top. Bought these drapes to replace the grey ones I had here as I wanted some color in the room, and the Purple is wonderful. They hang nicely without any need to iron though I will likely do so to give them a more uniform look with the folds. The black out is great as this doorway face east and gets a lot of sunset light. Bought a set of these when I decided to put curtains on my windows. Really liked the weight, quality and feel of the Nicetown set. Ordered 9 more sets based on that first experience. Been about 6 months and still like them especially when you compare cost to the quality. The blackout feature works as advertised. They will wrinkle and have to be ironed when first unpackaged.
