I purchased this adapter explicitly to lessen the strain on the 2.5mm connector in my headphone audio setup, since I had bent three 2.5mm headphone cables from different brands within 18 months. The damage was due to a combination of the thinness of the connector and my level of activity (VR cardio games). To this end, this adapter proved to be a perfect solution. It's perfectly rigid when hooked up to a 4-pin headphone cable, and together, the daisy chain is large and heavy enough to be affixed to something as a rigid body, lessening strain on the 2.5mm end. The adapter's cable also has a taut mesh outer covering and spring which also prevent strain on the 2.5mm end by forcing the cable into a wide angle against any kinks. The added weight and rigidity all around prevent the 2.5mm contacts from shifting, resulting in, for at least my case where I'm literally dragging my DAC/Amp around, more consistent sound and less noise. If you're looking for a quality and hardy piece of hardware and your setup happens to only have balanced output to a 2.5mm TRRS, and you're not against added size and weight, I can happily recommend this adapter to protect your setup's longevity. Picture included shows the adapter (top), with the 4-pin connection literally taped to my DAC/Amp to remove strain from the 2.5mm. Note that the rigidity of the adapter's mesh and spring forces the angle of entry of the 2.5mm end to straighten. I bought this for my Focal Utopia aftermarket headphone Xlr cable( which I use with my Focal Arche) so I could use those cable with my Astell &Kern se 100 and they work perfectly . No feedback /static and no drop in sound quality at all. Very well made cable for a great price.

Works very well to convert my 4-pin XLR to 2.5mm TRRS for use with a FiiO Q5 DAC/Amp. The build quality was better than I was expecting. I hadn't noticed the spring on the 2.5mm TRRS end in the product photos that provides some strain relief. The XLR connector is also better than I had expected. Works great- has the right connections for my balanced digital audio player to my aftermarket balanced headphone cable with pro grade x4pin XLR end. I can take advantage of the higher fidelity output on my DAP. The only downside is that the 2.5mm TRRS end is too short and the weight of the XLR connector put too much strain on my DAP jack. It caused the signal to cut out and track selections to skip. You would need an 2.5mm extension cable to alleviate the strain. that's too many connections for my convenience ... show more

Perfect for the Drop Ether CX, which only comes with single end adapter, and the fit of stock adapter was way too tight. I mostly use balanced anyway, so this adapter is great. Note that there is a spring on the plug end, which is a nice touch.

Used this adaptor to drive Sennheiser 650 headphones from a Qudelix DAC/Amp. All my premium headphones have XLR connectors, very handy for connecting with this simple adaptor and extracting as much power as possible from the Qudelix (which is a great portable DAC and uses its balanced outputs to drive relatively insensitive headphones.) ... show more
