The box mentions leaving this outside a few days to air out and boy were they ever not kidding. This is the strongest, most noxious plastic/chemical smell I have ever experienced; the odor lingered for days even after I put the toy outside. If you aren’t sensitive to plastic/chemical smells, you will probably be fine but you should still open it outdoors and leave this outside to air out for awhile before using it inside. The light and remote in the package I was sent do not have insulating strips protecting their power source so it was clearly used and returned once already. (I wouldn’t care if it actually worked.) Unfortunately the light and remote do not function, so now I have to carve out time I do not have to either return or exchange the whole thing, or try to request a replacement light. Products with cheap parts like this feel like more work than they’re worth just to get all parts working and aired out so you can finally play with your cat. It does look very durable and I do not think my cat will be able to damage the mat with his nails, so if the smell ever goes away and if I’m able to get a new light, we will see. Unfortunately the only option I’m getting is to mail back the entire mat to exchange for a new one, rather than to just request a replacement light that isn’t broken, and I REALLY do not want to start this whole process over again with a freshly noxious mat. I’ve already had this one airing out for a week or so and it still needs more time. Furthermore, the instructions are very bad specifically with respect to the light. The remote is cheap but standard; it does say which way to put the battery etc. However, the light has two batteries and an LED driver board, and there are zero instructions or pictures for how to assemble or reassemble it. There are two very low resolution pictures of the light which do not show its individual parts nor how to put them together correctly. The light is spring loaded, so when you unscrew it the spring can cause it to suddenly pop open, and then all of the parts fall out at the same time. It’s impossible to figure out how to reassemble it the right way with using the provided (insufficient) instructions. So if you aren’t sensitive to extremely strong odors, live in a well ventilated space (or if you plan to use the mat exclusively outdoors), and have the time to troubleshoot problems or make returns, it looks like a creative, fun, and durable toy. However, if you are sensitive to strong smelling plastic or chemical odors, do not have a place outside to air out the play mat before use, and/or do not have the time to return or replace cheap broken parts, I do not recommend this product.

UPDATE: After less than a week the part that you blow up has multiple holes from claws and has deflated. It’s definitely NOT puncture proof. Dropping my rating to 3 stars. Super cute! My boy cat loves it, my girl cat is not interested at all. Overall it’s good quality, but the plastic smell is horrendous. Make sure to let it air out before letting your cats play with it.

The design is eye-catching with the floating 3D fish and the LED light feature that cycles through different colors—it really holds my cat’s attention. It’s a great size for indoor play and doesn’t take up too much space. I’m especially impressed with the build quality. The material feels thick and sturdy, and it has held up well against scratching. No water leaks so far, and the upgraded PVC seems much more durable than similar products I’ve tried. Setup was quick—just attach it to a hose or faucet and it’s ready to go. The pad is great and my cats love to play on it. The problem I have is with the remote control. It doesn’t work at all. Tried to reach out to company through Amazon and will not send a new light and remote. Instead wants me to return the item. That’s a hassle. To box it up and take to shipping company. All I needed was a new remote. Guess my girls will have to play without a light in it.

The product is sturdy and made pretty well, the small disc light insert for the inside works, but this tiny remote doesn’t work to control the lighting. I wouldn’t purchase again and am not even interested in repackaging and returning. I’m probably going to just discard and chalk it up as a lost of the money. Our cat really found no interest in it. So disappointing.

This lighted water mat is a fun way to keep my cat entertained! The multi-color lights and water movement really grab her attention, and the thickened material feels durable and scratch-resistant. It’s leak-proof as advertised, and the water sensor adds a cool interactive touch. However, one downside is that it requires close supervision — if your cat is very playful or aggressive, they might try to bite or flip it, which could lead to spills or damage over time.
