I broke them in on my treadmill for a couple of 2+miles of walking sessions at 3.5% grade, 3.1 mph- most comfortable. Then I took my daily walk outdoors on two separate days, and on a mostly flat asphalt surface, with few grades, completed the walk without any foot discomfort... I did not need a special shoe for running or basketball for everyday wearing. This shoe fits the bill. For my general wear, I have purchased this specific shoe many times. It is comfortable, fits well (has wider version but normal was fine for me). I have good wear on this style for years of use. Appearance is nice, with great support. Easy to put on as most do, and certainly versatile for usage in most function. Loos nice and is black. I personally like black over the standout white which looks terrible (my opinion) until they get dirtier. Shoe is lightweight and Breathable, as I do not sweat in them all day. Bought these for nursing school and I am very satisfied. I own many different New Balance shoes and they're always comfortable, high quality, and a great fit. I was initially tempted by the more expensive and flashy brands but I'm glad I went with these. These shoes are very supportive and are great for people who spend a lot of time on their feet. One thing to be aware of is that these shoes have mint colored accents around the logo, which wasn't very apparent in the product pictures. ... show more

Stands up to heavy and abuse use for about one year (20,000 steps a day, squatting/rising on toes, kicking cinderblocks). Comfortable for 8+ hours walking on concrete, medium weight, good traction on all surfaces. Most of the shoe repels water (the tongue does not). I was very reluctant to try New Balance shoes because my now 82 year old father having worn the standard issue NB white shoes for years I couldn’t picture me in those things. Every man over 70 wears them I thought. I was subject to foot problems because of a defect in my left foot. My podiatrist told me to try a pair. Maybe get in a different color pattern than dad’s shoes. I loved them instantly. I wear a size 15 shoe and comfort and wearability matters. Now that I have owned several pairs of NB shoes I am hooked. My sneaker inventory is down to two pairs that I would have trashed long ago if I only had a replacement. I was prepared to spend up to about $150 for shoes if I wanted. As I was looking through NB shoes first I stumbled across this patriotic looking pair and saw the amazing prize. I ordered them and two days later I have them and they are wonderful as usual. Also just in time for the Fourth of July. So happy I may buy a second pair.
