I love the new Kindle Scribe! Battery is amazing, lightweight. The kindle and the case are both durable and functional! Great value for the money in my opinion. I’m glad I bought it.

  • I love my new Kindle Scribe!
Option: Black Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Tungsten
I purchased a Boox Note Air 3 and a Rata Supernote. So I can compare those two devices to the Scribe competently. The Boox is pretty complicated and does a lot of stuff (some of which I still haven't tried). The Rata Supernote isn't as complicated and works well as a note taker. But, the reason I love my new Scribe is that it is as good as the Boox and Rata at taking notes and handwriting. But the Scribe can mark up documents and the Boox and Rata cannot. The Boox does an OK job of running the Kindle app. The Rata isn't so good as a Kindle reader. the Scribe is a Kindle and it functions really well as a Kindle. So, essentially, I get a great Kindle AND a great note taker. I think the Scribe is superior both as a Kindle reader and as a note taking device. ... show more

  • First Impressions
Option: Black Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Color: Tungsten
The Scribe arrived mid afternoon today, so I’ve spent the past five or six hours getting to know it. This is the first full sized e-reader that I’ve owned and I’m very impressed. I purchased the bundle that includes the plant based cover, the faster charger and the replacement pen set. The cover won’t arrive for another two days and I expect that I’ll be updating this once I receive it. Right now I’m only giving the Scribe 4 stars because of the Premium Pen. While it does magnetically attached to the Scribe, that magnet isn’t very strong and I’ve had the pen jump off twice in just a few hours of use, necessitating tracking in down around the house. I’m hoping the cover will change that. Reading on the Scribe feels very natural. It’s very light weight and the standard font size works well. Holding it one handed is much more comfortable than a hardcover book. I’m hoping the cover won’t affect that but we’ll see. The included hard copy Quick Start Guide doesn’t include much information and could be improved. There is an online Help package but you have to get to it by going thru the Setting menu. I’d suggest including that Help file as a Notebook so that it’s always available, even when the user doesn’t have an internet connection. Another feature that I think is going to be pretty important to this version of the Kindle is the ability to email documents to it. I’ve owned several of the previous versions of Kindle and I’ve always felt that this feature is slighted or completely ignored. I think the marketing and documentation should really highlight this,. Again, my first impression is very good. Most of my comments are nits, except for the pen attachment. I’m looking forward to spending more time getting to know the device. ... show more

  • Poorly Designed - Misrepresented - Can't write on Majority of Kindle Selections
Option: Black Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Tungsten
DO not buy this. Not worth it. you can't write on the majority of kindle titles. And the functionality or more accurately the disfunctionality of this device is extreme disappointing and no where near where it needs to be for the price of $542.

  • Very close to perfect
Option: Jade Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Metallic Jade
If you learn best by writing notes in the margins of physical books, then you'll love the Kindle Scribe. You can leave handwritten notes anywhere on the page. And because the Premium Pen combined with the Scribe's screen coating gives an almost paper-like feel when writing, it's a pleasure writing on this device. Also, the eraser is fantastic. In fact, it's even better than a real eraser in terms of feel. This is a huge improvement over using the Kindle app where you can only leave a typewritten note, and then the moment you finish with the note it shrinks down into this tiny superscripted icon at the end of a sentence. One frustrating thing about the Scribe is that when you make a handwritten note in a Kindle Book, you have to learn how to position your writing so that you can place it exactly where you want it. The software fix for this would be to place a solid line as the upper border the moment a person touches the pen to the Scribe surface. Another improvement would be that after you write your note in your Kindle Book that there is a feature to convert the handwriting to something nicer (i.e. the same way you can do this in Notebooks with the Scribe's AI capability to convert handwritten notes). A final improvement would be to equip the Scribe so that you can voice dictate a note instead of handwriting it. I can do this on my iPhone and iPad using the Kindle app, although the limitation here is that the note on Apple products then reduces to the tiny superscripted icon at the end of whatever sentence you're leaving the note. But there's no denying that this handwriting feature of the Scribe has jumped the Scribe to the top of my learning tools. ... show more

  • Handwritten Notes Disappear
Option: Jade Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Color: Metallic Jade
I'm a loyal Kindle fan, upgrading every few years. The Paperwhite is amazing! When the Scribe came out with the promise of keeping my books AND notes (in books, in curated notebooks, on PDFs, etc.), I thought it was a dream come true and bought as soon as I could. I have shown it off and sung its praises. Now that dream is a bad one. For no reason and without warning, all of my handwritten notes on a linked PDF annual planner suddenly disappeared. 6 days of planning, goals, habits, tasks, calendar events gone on an instant. Zero commitment to a resolution from the online customer service chat. They just regurgitate suggested troubleshooting you can find in ChatGPT. They also offered no solution to manually back up notes in case this happens again. I have lost confidence that notes are protected and backed up. Not viable for any worthwhile purpose. I'll probably sell my Scribe. I don't need a huge e-reader that does not keep notes safe. Back to Paperwhite for reading, and paper and pen or OneNote for notes - or maybe the Remarkable. ... show more
