    • It's an alternator, it was needed, now it's not.

The alternator went in as easy as any other I suppose. For those unifamiliar, always check the battery cables at the fuse box, the battery, and the alternator first with a miltimeter to rule out failure and bad grounds there as they can give a false failure and a new alternator won't do you any good, simply check resistance or do a voltage drop test. Also, note that this alternator has a false click on the input wiring, you need to push it down all the way or it just won't work, found this out the hard way felt like it was in place it wasnt and clean them too while youre there. Value is worth it, and of course it looks new. There is no gasket, and durability is hopeful, it's not a complicated part so I don't expect failure anytime soon as long as nothing else is bad. ... show more

I installed this alternator in a 2001 Ford-E250 Van with the 5.4 V8 engine. My previous alternator had a bad voltage regulator. This one arrived quickly in great condition and after a quick installation seems to be working just fine. Awesome!!

No, its not OEM, but, for the price... ya can't go wrong! Just got it delivered today 5 Jan 2020, and an hour later it was installed. Worked like a charm in a 18yr old truck. Started up on the first crank! All you need for the DIY'ers, 8mm socket to disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal, also same socket to remove/loosen hose clamp bolts on the intake tube @ both ends (2ea). 10mm socket to remove the engine dressing cover (3ea), one on passenger side, 2 drivers side, the positive cable terminal on top the alternator, and lastly (3ea) alternator bolts, 1 on top and 2 on bottom. 1/2" drive breaker bar to release the belt/tensioner. Small flathead screwdriver to remove the connectors, if you have big hands, like I do. All in all, 30 mins start to finish w/cleanup. Fitment: Installed on a 2002 Ford F150, 4.6L v8. Oh yeah, 1/4" drive set was used to complete the install and a Milwaukee M12 1/4" ratchet. Serpentine belt tool by Gearwrench was used as well.
