Alternator works great...if you're attempting to do this job on your own, you must be prepared to get kicked in the rear.. do some googling and youtubing to see other options for removal and install. I'll tell you this much, you'll invent some four letter words in full sentences. Mechanic for a long time. ... show more

You're going to have a heck of a time removing this if you've never change one on this vehicle before. You've got to basically remove the three mounting bolts, mounting bracket and cooling shroud on a 2001 Escape, then figure out how to maneuver the alternator around JUST right to get it out from between the frame and strut/drive assemblies and that's AFTER removing the drive axle on the passenger side. If you're patient, it WILL fit, but it's like delivering a breech baby. The alternator itself seems to be quality and no complaints with performance so far (3 weeks). ... show more

    • Great oem type fit!
After recovery from having sticker shock at the quoted price at the dealer to replace the dead alternator on my son's Escape. I bought this one and did the job myself. Took about three hours and yes it will come up between the firewall and engine. YouTube has great videos.
