I've been using this for years and have always been pleased with the performance. There are a number of brands that have the same active ingredient and concentration (2% salicylic acid), but Neutrogena has a nicer smell and is thicker, so the bottle lasts longer. As with any salicylic acid wash, go easy at first -- no more than once every other day until you can determine how your skin reacts. Some people are more sensitive to it than others, and it can cause redness and chapping. If all's good with using it every other day for a couple of weeks, then step it up to once per day. For me, that's the best frequency, but some people can use it as often as twice a day without any redness. If this proves to be too strong, there are also brands with a 1% concentration of salicylic acid that are easier on the skin. It's a very effective blemish treatment option that's easy to use and much less expensive than the "upscale" brands (which often have the exact same active ingredient).

Nuetrogena Acne Wash is the best. We like it much better than OXY because it works and cleans our skin without over-drying. The wash is somewhat of a concentrate, meaning you add a little warm water to a squirt or so of the wash and it is plenty to clean your face including the neck. A bottle this size lasts about a couple of months for my wife and I with daily use, so it is cost effective as well. A few more things, after using various other products we like this one because it doesn't sting our eyes if used properly. (we use it in the shower) Just lather, wait a minute or so while it cleans but keep your face out of the direct water stream and then rinse completely and you're good. Lastly, I am allergic to many fragrances but have had no problems with this product after using for years. Recommended.

I have to use the Neutrogena Oil Free Acne wash due to my facial skin type. A little bit goes a long ways with the acne wash. Just one small dab on your damp hand will lather up nicely to cover your face and massages in nicely. Even though I don't have acne it cleans my face nicely without leaving any kind of residue and your face feels clean and fresh. It cleans out your pores and after using for a couple of weeks or so you can see a noticeable improvement on your skin. It does not leave your skin tight and dry but soft and smooth. Love it!

I switched to this because lately my skin has been getting really bad so I thought changing to a “better” cleanser might work but this literally burned my face and left it completely red, it also dry as sand paper and I have a normal skin type and I’m not very sensitive to anything. The only reason I’m not giving this a one star is because it seemed to work. I used to have a bunch of small bumps all over my forehead and now I don’t and I seemed to clear my acne fast; mind you, I only got this product yesterday and have only used it twice.

Highly recommend this product for someone who gets random pimples due to stress and such. You’ll see results within a few days however, this product is meant to dry out your acne and blemishes so be sure to apply good moisturizer. Update: Be very careful when using this product after a few uses it causes a burning sensation and leaves reddening on parts of the face. Do not use as a simple face wash only use a very small amount when acne breakouts or blemishes occur!!!!

I love Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash. My adult kids love it as well. Even my 27 year old son uses it except he prefers the pink grapefruit version. It does a wonderful job of cleansing you skin without drying it out to much. I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash every morning when I shower and in the evenings I remove my make-up with the Neutrogena facial cloths. Neutrogena offers such a wide variety of cleansing products and they all work beautifully. You can't go wrong with this acne wash!
