I thought it would be softer but had no idea the wonders it had in store for my back pains. It’s a great quality mattress for an amazing price! There was no bad odor when I opened the mattress which is a plus. And after a couple days, the mattress expanded to the full 8 inches that I wanted. So far right out of the box it seems great. This is within 10 minutes of opening. It's seems like a very nice quality mattress. Very little smell out of the package and I am going to give it 2 full days before I put sheets on it so that it airs out fully. I will say that it is very soft. I am 110 lbs and sink in it. So if you need any type of medium to firm, this may not be the right one for you. But the price point is fabulous for a 12" mattress with 3 layers! ... show more

I’m pleased with it, so far. I’ve been sleeping on it a little more than 2 weeks, and been sleeping well. The gel top is soft and fairly firm underneath. I currently just have it on the floor, but am going to put it on a platform or box spring, once I move to my permanent housing. There was a very noticeable odor for a few days after i opened it. I walked all over it several times a day, and also rolled across it from top to bottom and side to side. The instructions said to walk on it multiple times. I think this is what helps to ventilate and eliminate the odor. The odor was significantly reduced after about 3-4 days, and entirely gone after about a week.
