Bought a 12 pack for our 6yo Cub Scout den. Most of the kids could assemble themselves and needed minimal help from parents since there’s no screws/nails. Quality was good for $3/each. Would be 5 stars but paint was completely dried up in most of the kits. We ended up using markers to color them so it wasn’t a big deal but don’t buy these for the paint project. ... show more

if you are looking for a functional bird house, then you need to make a bigger hole in the front. Other than that, my daughter loved putting these together and painting them. They make great activities to be able to paint and hang up. There are different styles of bird houses in the box, so they aren't all the same house. I was very pleasantly surprised by this product. The bird houses were a part of my daughter’s birthday party and all the kids were able to build them (ages 5-9) with just a little help. We added some hot glue to the ‘joints’ just to ensure they were sturdy. I loved that they each came with their own set of paints, a brush, string and stickers. It made it so easy! Some of the birdhouse kits had dried paint. Other than that, birdhouses were really cute - students loved them. . I used it as part of an art activity, when we completed our "bird study". I'm minus paint because I had to open other kit's.

Our son's birthday is by Easter. He didn't want a piñata and I didn't want to give everyone even more candy. He's very into painting so we bought these for his party instead. The kids had a blast painting them, and it was great that each child got their own set of paints so the ones who mixed the colors together didn't upset those that wanted the true colors. They are a bit of a challenge to assemble and I don't think any of the children 4-9yo were able to put them together by themselves. We had a girl scout meeting with 7 people attending and every single birdhouse held up perfectly. We used these for the girls to get their Animal Habitat / Animal Observer badges. The paint was wet and colorful and not dried up like some brands tend to be. The wood isn't solid like buying a kit from home depot, but it was great for a quick and simple birdhouse project.
