This is a nice set of 1/2" metric impact deep sockets at a good price. I bought a cordless impact wrench primarily to speed up change over of snow tires on two cars and an SUV and then the swap back to summer tires in the spring. That's 12 wheels and 60 lug nuts coming off and 12 wheels and 60 lug nuts going back on twice per year. Truth be told, I only need 2 different sockets (17mm and 21mm) for the three sets of lug nuts plus a 13/16ths socket for a scissor jack adapter I bought so I can use the impact wrench to raise and lower the cars. But, I decided if I was going to buy the impact wrench and batteries, I may as well have a full set of sockets so I'll be ready for any need that arises. I like this set because it's a full set with no missing sockets from 10mm to 24mm. I also like it for the plastic case which keeps all the sockets tidy and ready to go in one place without having to dig through a tool box. And there is a thin sheet of foam lining the case that keeps the sockets from rattling around. As for the sockets themselves, they are laser engraved with the size in a large silver font that's really easy to read. The finish is sort of chalky rather than slick and polished. Another reviewer said they didn't like that but I do. It makes the sockets non-slip and easy to grip when pushing them on or pulling them off an anvil with a hog ring. They also seem pretty nicely finished with no rough edges. These are fairly thin walled sockets so they should work well on most OEm and aftermarket wheels. These are chrome vanadium steel rather then chrome molybdenum and by most accounts chrome moly has an edge when it comes to ductility and therefore tool life with an impact wrench. But reviews seemed to indicate these sockets hold up pretty well and I figure if I break one I'll just replace it with a chrome moly equivalent and it will slot right into the case. But most likely, for home use these will last me a long time. I noticed the product listing shows the case dimensions as 2.24 x 4.61 x 18.5 in. But looking at the picture I could tell that isn't even close to the rectangular box shown. So out came the tape measure. The actual size of the box shown in the product listing is 3.5 x 9.5 x 12.5 in. Apparently the case has changed over time and the Amazon listing hasn't been updated. I'm really happy with these so far. Oh, and I also bought the SAE set with 14 deep sockets from 3/8 to 1 1/4" in the same size case. Highly recommended. EDIT 11/29/2018: OK, I used these sockets for the first time today to swap out summer tires and wheels on a Mercedes SUV. I used the 17mm socket on the lug nuts and the 13/16 socket to drive an adapter on a 2 ton scissor jack. The sockets did fine despite the fact my 450 lb ft impact wrench stalled out on about 5 of the 20 bolts on the car. I had to grab a breaker bar and use brute force to get them to break loose. I had the brakes done on all 4 wheels recently and apparently the mechanic did the typical torquing of my lug nuts with an air wrench set on King Kong. At any rate the sockets performed flawlessly and like I said, that 17mm took the full force of my impact wrench then a breaker bar with my full weight and muscle to free up 5 of the lug nuts. I really like the flat, non shiny and non slippery finish. Very easy to grab and pull off the hog ring anvil on my impact wrench. ... show more

I picked this socket set up along with an "Amazon Special" 1/2" drive impact driver last week to help me replace the sacrificial anode in my hot water heater. Simple brute force wouldn't budge the bolt and no breaker bar of any worth could be used in the limited space. Solution - impact driver! I would have rather purchased a set from a known US company instead of another no-name Chinese one, but I couldn't find a set that included sockets over 1" so I went with this one. First off, the box is HEAVY. That's a good thing! It means there is a sizable amount of steel in there. The cardboard shipping box had blown out one end and I was surprised the set was still inside it untouched. The case is reasonable, with a good set of latches keeping everything secure. Nothing rattles when shaken. Inside the case there is a thin piece of foam laying between the sockets and the case cover, keeping everything in place. The sockets are coated with a thin, slightly sticky oil to keep them from rusting. Don't try to clean it off. Leave it there to do its job. It kind of reminded me of cosmoline, but not as bad! Like I said earlier, the impact driver I got is a no-name Chinese Amazon special, but claims to put out up to 320 ft-lbs of torque. I mated the socket to the driver and went to town on the hot water heater. Being my first experience using an impact driver, I expected the bolt to come out quickly. Nope, not happening. I ended up hammering on the bolt for a good 20-30 seconds with the trigger fully pulled before I finally started seeing rotation. The 20 year old anode bolt finally did come out (in one piece) and I immediately saw why it was so damned tight - no Teflon tape was used on the threads! It was bare steel-on-steel threads, most likely installed with another impact driver! Replaced the anode and made sure Teflon tape was used this time around. Used a regular ratchet wrench to hand-tighten the bolt. No leaks! Took a close look at the socket afterwards and no worse for wear. We'll see what the next job will be, but I have a feeling that I'll be replacing the driver LONG before I have to get another socket set! ... show more

I just spent a day beating my trucks rusted leaf spring bolts with these and my heavy duty Milwaukee impact tool. Things got pretty hot but they held up with no visible damage.
