  • High quality professional mic arm at a great price. Even holds a mirrorless camera!
This is sold as a boom arm for the Blue Yeti mic. However the mount is just a standard ⅝ mic mount so you can easily mount any mic you like to it. have several shotgun mics that I like to use and those mics actually have a ¼ mount. A $7 investment in an adapter shroud and I was able to perfectly mount my smaller shotgun mics to this stand. With that same adapter you can also mount an actual camera to the stand. You can see in the picture I mounted Panasonic GH4 with a 25mm lens and it was perfectly solid. It is perfect for doing top down photography giving you so much freedom of movement so you can place your camera in virtually any position you can think of. I even mounted a AD200 photography strobe with no problem at all! Make no mistake this isn’t your cheap plastic or paper thin aluminum mic stand. The all metal construction is very heavy duty. The metal tube are actually ½” thick. Not the thin .39” tubes found in the cheaper models. This is NOT a small stand and it can actually extend out 19”. More than enough length to position amy mic anywhere around my large desk. The center joint of the arm can rotate 180 degrees. The clamp is beefy enough to securely attach the arm to a table or other such surface with no wobble no matter the weight you attach to the other end. The arm has a nice clean professional appearance. Where most inexpensive arms have exposed springs, the springs in this stand are hidden within the arms. You can also route your mic cable wires inside the arm to further give it that clean professional appearance. On the last photo of this review I pulled up this track a bit so you can see how to insert your wires. Keep in mind the track comes off completely to make it easier to get your wires in there. Another feature I love about this mic boom arm is that the suspension is not so overly stiff so you can actually attach a very lightweight mic at the end without the arm popping back up in the air. I attached with a screw adapter I mentioned earlier a very small on camera shotgun mic, a GoPro as well as a small RGB LED light and there was zero bounceback. I am incredibly happy with this mic boom arm. In fact it is much more than just a mic boom arm since you can mount all manner of items from lightweight mics to heavier mirrorless cameras. For the price I really don’t see another stand that would be a better choice than this one. I gladly give this stand my highest recommendation! ... show more

  • Not happy with it, but now I am (updated)
Look at the photos. You can run the mic wire along the arm and you use this black plastic to cover the wire, so it would look clean; however, this plastic is not straight. You get 4 strips, you only need 2. None of the 4 strip covers are straight. 19" arm is definitely better than the standard 13 " or 14" arm, trust me. My desk is 7' w, so 19" is perfect. Update: I was going to return the item, but I really needed it for work. I didn't have time to deal with it. Busy life... So, I reached out to Neewer, I showed them the photos. They wanted to make things right and they took care of me. Excellent customer service. I appreciate positive, honest and sincere customer service than anything. Some Amazon sellers don't really care too much about the buyers, it's your unlucky day if you get a bad piece. Anyway, thank you very much, will do biz again. ... show more

  • Sturdy support with thoughtful features
I bought this unit specifically to work with my Blue Yeti microphone. The fittings were perfectly matched--there were no burrs or other issues mounting the vibration isolation ring and microphone. My Auphonix pop filter clamps easily to the center of the top armature--doubling as rest for my Philips monitor headphones. The clamp is strong and wide enough to mount on my 2-in thick desk. The armatures have removable channel covers to allow neater arrangement for running the microphone cable to the computer. My only minor complaint is that the channel covers have a habit of not staying perfectly snapped in at the ends, but this is a small quibble. All in all, a very solid piece of equipment. • Long, stable, and sturdy but with a loud squeak
This arm is great if you're looking for a sturdy mic arm that gives you some extra length over the average boom arm. (Note: The boom arm cannot go "flat" or parallel to the desk. Both parts of the arm will always have at least some slant when fully extended. This is not a major issue, but was not clear to me when purchasing. My one complaint is the squeaking. When I move the arm at the joint between the two arms (not the base or mic end), there is a very loud squeak that can be heard through the microphone. Fortunately I have hotkeys that allow me to mute quickly, but you do not want to move the mic while talking. I've received complaints from listeners every time I do that. Otherwise, the other features of the mic arm are all great. ... show more

  • Solid, sturdy, simple
I'm using this articulating arm with a Blue Yeti microphone and the arm is outstanding. The double square tubular arms are thick and solid. Out-of-the-box, the articulating joints hold in place even with the added weight of a pop filter. Although, the tension on joints do look adjustable based on examining the hex screws holding the joints (I haven't actually tried adjusting them). The reach is long enough for my 6 foot wide desk with room to spare. The easy swivel head allows for repositioning the mic without having to turn the lockouts. Cable management is well thought out and designed. Overall, I found tremendous value in this item. ... show more

  • Works great with a heavy mic!
I first purchased another mic boom that was supposed to be good for heavier microphones, but it didn't work. The mic end of the boom would just slowly sag until the mic hit the desk. So I got this one instead, which was specific about how much weight it could hold, and it definitely does the job. I'm using this boom with a RØDE Podcaster mic, which is pretty heavy, and there are no issues. Boom arm moves smoothly and easily into any position I want. Great value for the money. ... show more
