I have been doing photography for over 50 years. This product gave me a soft light for close up head shots and reduced shine. I am pleased with the purchase. If I had to offer a concern I wonder how long the spines will hold up as they did bend a little. If given the choice, I would but it again.

My first impression is that this softbox is very good quality. The rods, bracket and umbrella material are all professional grade. I would say this is not a quick and easy set-up for travel, not like your basic umbrella that you can quickly expand and it is on the heavy side (also speaks to its sturdiness). I wish it came with a small instruction booklet. It takes a little bit of "humph" to get the rods in place, but I guess it is a good sign that they are tight. After the first disassembly several of the rods are bent, so I hope they don't break after regular use and I hope you can buy more if they do. I think best thing about it and reason I purchased are the 3 (or maybe 4?) stages of diffusion: light hits the beauty dish, then the back interior of umbrella which is white (not silver), then the middle white diffuser layer and lastly the outer white diffuser. Basically eliminating any hot spot. I bought a bowens mount separately to attached to a yongnuo speed light (pictured). Wish it had a grid, but it's pretty good value as it is. Hope to add a headshot picture to show the light spread soon. ... show more

This is my second time buying this Soft-box and I love it. I used my first one for more than 2 years but one of the plastics chucks broke. Now with the metal chucks I hope to use it for more time. Is easy to open and close and save a lot of time and space.

This is a lovely small soft box/beauty dish with wide application. Please note the accompanying photos. The unit comes with an internal diffuser panel, a face panel diffuser and can be used without either of these to serve as a beauty dish. Note the coverage of each, particularly the light distribution on the background. This unit would serve well in tight portraiture, as balance fill, still life, or product photography. One caveat: Assembly can be challenging, so don't plan on having a “collapsible” soft box which can be assemble/disassembled instantly. Leave it alone after you assemble it, and enjoy it! An over-arching benefit is Neewer's Customer Support, which simply couldn't be better: professional, courteous and responsive There was a minor problem with my initial order, and Neewer's Customer Support resolved the matter INSTANTLY to full satisfaction. ... show more

    • PRETTY NICE, BUT NO INSTRUCTIONS FOR SET UP
Well, the price is right. No instructions to set up, nor is there a YouTube video to show you how. But once set up, it seems nice for the money. I'm sure it's not as nice as a Profoto, but it's not $200 either! I am not going to tear down each time. Just store it in a large plastic garage bag to keep it clean. Disassembly and re-assembly every time you use it doesn't seem like a good idea. ... show more
