You can buy the mount and the gobo head separately and it'll cost more than buying them together as a set. For a cheap solution, these can't be beat. No complaints. The vinyl that covers the metal prongs of the mount sticks well, doesn't seem like it'll peel, and the gobo head is secure, easy to tighten, and the black color should last for the lifetime of the unit.     • Very sturdy, but a little bit on the heavy side (carbon fiber is better if you can afford it)!
I am still building the muscle to get used to holding it up, so I think it will work for me. But the twist lock takes a little time to figure out.

Used it for a two night live show recording last weekend and it worked well. So far, it appears to be versatile (mounting clamp has different sized cut-outs for larger and smaller posts) and held my Marantz carbon fiber boom pole (approx 20 feet), fully extended, reliably.
