  • Exceptional light
The media could not be loaded. As a full time filmmaker, lights are the essence of my craft. Having something that is dependable and versatile is paramount. I have several NEEWER lights and got a hold of this new product, the CB200. Rated at a whopping 210W would be roughly equivalent to 2,100 W of incandescent light. This one is big. It measures 11.8" x 8.11" x 7.24" and it is heavy - 6.5lb NEEWER estimates 98,000lux/1m and I did a test of a full set of studio lights vs the single CB200 and I was truly impressed as you can see on the video. Not only is it powerful but it whispers quiet. Granted I have not left it on long enough to get really hot, neither the temperatures are screeching hot now here in Texas. I will post an update if fan noise becomes a problem. But I doubt it will. Now something to pay attention to. In “normal” mode it delivers only 60% of power at dial 100. To get the full light you need to press the booster button. Not sure what the idea was here. Perhaps to reduce heat? So be conscious that to get full power you need to have it in booster mode. You can control it with your phone and the Android app worked flawlessly. Being able to remote control a light intensity in a shoot is a godsend, especially for those gigs when I'm by myself (most of them, really). It does have 9 built in effects that may come handy, check the video and I show each one of them. It has Bowens mount which enables you to use any Bowens coupling and accessories like the so loved (and painfully hard to set up and break down) Parabolic softbox or the Lantern Softbox to Snoot and Fresnel lenses. Amazing. Lastly, my favorite feature is a SINGLE 5600k light (darn it, why so many useless bi-color lights!?) so you can have the full power of the light in one SINGLE COLOR! Can't express how important this is for a professional filmmaker. Need a different color? Use a gel dude. (Funny that a reviewer said the color dial was not working!? Does he realize this is a single color light?) At any rate, I'm totally impressed with this light. I have 2 FS230 and this one completes my 3 point light kit. I love Neewer lights. ... show more

  • NEEWER CB200 210W LED Video Light – A Beast of a Light!
I recently ordered two single point LED video lights, including this one. The other brand unit I got is the same power but is bi-color. I like this Neewer unit a lot more. This CB200 is really solidly built, although it's pretty heavy (at least in comparison to the other unit I ordered). After watching some videos about the CB200 lineup, the controls were pretty easy to navigate. I like the digital readout and the temperature display is a nice idea so you can see how much the light heats up. Here's what I really like about it. While the fan is supposed to be really quiet, I wouldn't know because it hasn't turned on yet! In the standard mode (without Booster mode), the fan doesn't turn on but it is supposed to turn on when in the Booster mode. I'm sure it does turn on eventually but it didn't turn on for the time period I had it at full power. In contrast the bi-color unit I got from the other brand has the fan turn on no matter what power you're on. The Booster mode is somewhat odd but I think I know why Neewer has it. As I mentioned, when the Booster mode is not activated, the fan does not turn on. If you need your light to be really quiet, then you can leave it Booster mode deactivated. Of course, that does limit the power of the unit. I haven't had an opportunity to run it with Booster mode on for a longer period of time but, when I do, I'll report back if the fan does kick on and how loud it is. Several people have noted that the Bowens mount is kind of tight with other modifiers and I did find that to be the case but it isn't so tight that it would be something to be concerned about. (I admit it would have a nicer feel if the mount fit a little looser.) I have, also, seen some complaints about the light having a very distinct hot spot in the center. The hot spot is really accentuated by the reflector that comes with the CB200B. When I put a different metal reflector on it, the light was far more even across so it seems the reflector that comes with it is what makes it look so uneven. Fortunately, I have several Bowens mount metal reflectors so I can use those instead. So, I really like how quiet it and how well it works. I wish it wasn't so big and heavy but I knew it would be when I ordered it. I haven't tested the app yet since that's not a high priority for me but, when I give it a try, I'll edit my review to include my thoughts on this. For my use, this light is a fine option. It's pretty inexpensive compared to some of the other units available and, if I was a full-time videographer, I would likely purchase one of the higher end units. Since I'm a photographer, with only an occasional need for video lighting, this was perfect way to add a single point light. In fact, I liked it so much, I just ordered the bi-color version. (When recording indoors, having the ability to vary the video light color temperature to match the ambient light is a big convenience!) ... show more

  • Incredibly powerful!
I ordered this for use at home. Specifically, my wife wants to try making YouTube cooking videos, but our kitchen has terrible lighting. I have a few cheap LED lights that I ordered for my son's YouTube videos, but this is lightyears ahead of anything we've got! First of all, this light is huge! I really think it was designed for professional use, especially consider how bright it is at it's max setting. It's night time as I type this and I live in a condo. I'm so tempted to shine this out the window to see if it'll light up the park across the street, but I'm sure people - lots of people - would see it and we'd have to deal with the complaints. The light is solid! I really like the shiny, black, brushed-metal body of this thing. Very sharp looking! I also very much appreciate that it uses a Bowens mount, which gives a lot of flexibility in the accessories you can use. As much as I love Neewer products (I really do), it's nice to not be bound to a single brand. I haven't tried the app yet, but the controls at the back of the light are simple to use. It's nice that it tells you the internal temperature of the light and the scenes (lightning, TV, etc.) are easy to access. Oh, and one of the best things - this light is dead silent! The top has a huge vent and so I worry that heat and noise may become an issue down the road, but for now - silent! I'm really impressed by this light! I do think it's geared more towards professional use, but we will be enjoying it in our kitchen! I would absolutely recommend this product! ... show more
