I picked this up as a simple accessory for my camera setup, but it turned out to be way more useful than I expected. First off, the build quality is impressive for such a small piece of gear. It feels solid and well-made, with a good balance between lightweight and durable. The metal construction gives it a professional feel, not cheap or flimsy like some other mounts I’ve tried. The flexibility is where this really shines. The ball head allows smooth adjustments, and once you lock it in place, it stays put. I’ve used it for mounting a small LED light and a microphone, and it holds position without slipping. The cold shoe connection is secure and fits snugly on my camera, and the 1/4” screw makes it compatible with pretty much any accessory — super convenient if you’re running a compact rig. Another thing I appreciate is how compact it is. It’s easy to keep in a bag or even a pocket, making it perfect for on-the-go shoots or quick setups. I bought these to be able to hold up a 2oz microphone on top of my DSLR. Neewer makes pretty great stuff and I've trusted them in the past with a lot of things for my cameras and gear around the house. These things though, just seem to really take a lot of force to get them to crank down and not be loose. Just when you have it tight and locked down to both the hot show and the accessory on top, suddenly the middle will be loose. Then you get the middle barrel tight and now suddenly the accessory is loose. It takes a bit more fiddling than I really care for or would expect from Neewer. If these are going to be semi-permanent fixtures on your camera then maybe the extra time to get it all secure is fine. But if you're going to somewhat regularly remove and replace these... depends how you want to spend your time. ... show more

I have not been dissatisfied with any Neewer products I have purchased. These replace the "el cheapo" ball joints that I have on my current tripod. Metal construction is not likely to strip out like my old ones.
