Top Amazon Reviews

  • Initial impression (8-person): this is a good quality tent with some extra features.
Size: 8 Person
Updated review: we spent 2 nights camping in this tent, with a few daytime rainfalls and one heavy, overnight thunderstorm that lasted over 2 hours. The tent stayed dry inside, with one minor leak from the window sill (see below). I know that our previous tent would not be able to stay dry during that storm. Summary: the tent is spacious and the material quality is promising. No major leaks in heavy rain. The detailing and construction are definitely a notch above the popular brands offered in big-box stores, and I spent my time researching other options. It's a great value for money, especially when bought out of the camping season. I'll give this Chinese brand thumbs-up for all the no-nonsense upgrades they included on this product. PROS: + Good size for a 4 person family, after a 2-night trip we loved how much stuff we could put inside to keep it away from the rain. I compared multiple footprints of various tents (6 and 8 person) and this one was not excessive. + The rain fly has a rubberized feel at the interior side, this is not rubber but polyurethane. There were no factory quality problems with that coating, and PU coatings can be surprisingly durable if treated well (time will tell). + The rain fly did excellent job at keeping the interior dry, even in heavy rainfall with wet leaves stuck to it all over - there were no leaks from the seams or vents, which we kept open all night. The only leak was from the window, which is not protected by the rain fly. + The details and design solutions of the tent seem to have been "inspired" by some quality brands, for example the anodized aluminum tent poles and how they connect to the aluminum grommet plates at the anchor points. I looked at other tents available from the popular brands in the U.S., and the connections used by this tent looked superior the the "rubber ball in a pocket" offered by others. + I looked at all the seams (there is a ton of threading) and while the factory left some lose thread stitched in here or there, all the threading looked solid with no gaps or missed spots. + The 3-piece floor seams are taped (waterproofed) from the inside. A number of other stitches are also taped, including windows sills and the "tub" floor. I prefer tub floors in tents. + The anchor points are reasonably well stitched to the tub floor, and taped. There's some tension where the anchor straps are stitched to the floor, especially on those two connections that connect two tent poles each. Putting a stake through the 3rd hole in the connection plate helps relieve that tension. + The storage bag is huge. It's big enough for the inner tent and the intimidating rain fly, but without trying hard I was able to fit all the tent parts AND a large sized tarp inside the bag (!), with some spare room still left (!!). This is the only tent I have that didn't have to be forced back into the bag. The bag has compression straps on the outside to keep it snug. + Cross ventilation feels good, especially with rain fly open on both ends. If bugs allow you to open small gaps in the doors on both ends, there's a fresh breeze coming through. On hot days, I would still camp in the shade if possible. + It has two doors, which will help you get in and out especially if tent location is restricted by the available tent pad. Kids may find the back door easier to use because it's more vertical than the huge front door. + The zippers look good but generic, and it's hard to say how long they will last. Zipper flaps have additional patches of Velcro so they should stay put in the wind. + The guy lines are reflective, and so are the guy line attachment straps. As expected, all the zipper loops are reflective as well. + The guy lines have a bite-in type of tension adjustment piece, and while it's plastic it's still an upgrade to most similar hardware I've seen on other big-box store tents. And there's an extra guy line in the package. I'd recommend attaching the guy lines to the loops/straps on the rain fly before your first trip, they're easy to misplace. CONS (minor): - This is an 18-foot long tent! Some camp sites may limit your options where to set it up, I also recommend 2 persons folding the rain fly over the tent, while the tent is still up, it's just easier with the odd shape of the rain fly. - Some straps/vents/loops/clamps on this tent are very hard to reach. Learn how to set up the tent before you go camping. - The window walls of the tent are not protected by the rain fly, and they had a slightly damp feeling on the inside surface after a heavy storm (but water remained outside). One of the window sills leaked small amount of water from one of the lower corners (tent was set on uneven ground). This happened on the side facing the wind. - The tent comes with exactly 15 stakes (per manual), but there are actually 16 anchor points (Naturehike, wouldn't it cost pennies to add some spare stakes?). Plus, I would recommend 2 additional stakes to relieve tension at the floor level, see above, so 18 stakes minimum. Definitely buy more stakes before you go camping! - The included manual is as borderline useless as some reviewers say, and I did not believe it until I saw it ;) - I'm not a huge fan of the Velcro straps that are meant to attach the guy line attachment straps through the rain fly and onto the tent poles. Some type of a plastic clamp would be easier and maybe even more durable. That said, most tents just use Velcro in those spots. - Off-gassing... I think it's a good idea to leave the tent outside and vent it well before you sleep in it. While the smell is not very bad, it definitely has a "new tent" plastic smell which will need time to go away. - No power cord inlet, but there's a "pocket" covering the rear door zippers, which may help a bit. - there's no stake loop at the front where the 3 zippers meet. Where this is included, it's so much easier to open with one hand without yanking the vertical zipper. WISHES: * I could use an overhead storage net. * With the size of the tent and the 2-door configuration, I think that the lack of privacy divider is a missed opportunity. * There could be a 2nd light hook somewhere inside, due to the size of the tent. ... show more

  • Excellent Value - Kota 6
Size: 6 Person(hot tent)
Bought this for weekend trips and it’s been awesome — roomy with great headroom and loaded with thoughtful features , good venting, and handy storage pockets. The initial setup took a little time to figure out, but once you understand the pole layout it goes up much faster. Zippers and seams feel solid for the price, and it handled a windy, rainy night without issue. The large vestibule is also a big plus — it’s perfect for mountain bikers who want a protected place to store their bike overnight. The included stakes and storage bag are usable but worth upgrading if you want something a bit sturdier. Otherwise, I’ve had no issues with the tent at all. If you’re budget-minded but want a fully featured family/camp tent, this is a smart pick. Highly recommended. 🚲🏕️ ... show more

  • It's GIANT, but so far is awesome.
Size: 6 Person(hot tent)
Only 1 trip in.. but I had 24 hours of rain and snow. 1: Only reason for a 4 star - setup instructions are basically worthless! 2: Waterproofing: Phenomenal! We'll see how it will stand up to multiple exposures, but the first 48 hours I had this tent set up, I experienced 14 straight hours of rain, followed by 3"in of snow. I had to adjust the guy outs a couple of times, and had some pooling in between the poles, but despite having to get up several times to "shake the puddles" off the rain fly, I had ZERO condensation on the inside of the tent! I think largely due to the huge vestibule, there is a lot of circulation. I did not have a stove on this particular trip, but the stove jack did not leak at all! 3: The rain fly on this thing is HUGE, almost unmanageable for 1 person, again referencing point #1, there was some confusion as to how it attached to the main tent poles. NATUREHIKE, you would do yourself a lot of good by improving instructions / providing a proper setup video! Overall - Tons of room (I'm 6'3 and can stand comfortably) - can be set up solo - great in inclement weather (so far) - seems to be YUGE value for the $$. - Will update as I've had further chances to test in late fall / early winter high country hunting trips. ... show more

  • Affordable Quality Tent
Size: 6 Person(hot tent)
We purchased the 6-person version. This is a very large tent that is fairly easy to pitch and not too heavy. I was able to set it up by myself, but having two adults definitely makes pitching easier. We are a family of five (two adults and three kids), and the inner tent fits all of us comfortably, with plenty of room left for extra gear. We also like that there are many storage pockets along the side walls for small items. The living area is spacious—if you’re not using a stove, you could probably fit two cots. There are multiple ventilation options to help minimize condensation. The solid, non-mesh portion of the inner tent is about 2–2.5 feet tall, so you won’t feel cold air blowing on you while sleeping. Overall, the build quality is excellent, as expected from other Naturehike products, and this tent is fantastic for its affordable price. ... show more
