    • its durability, odor, pet preference, appearance, and healthiness is what it makes me buy it

My dog likes this one, its durability, odor, pet preference, appearance, and healthiness is what it makes me buy it. No allergy reactions on my dog. Great money value.

    • Excellent dog food!
Size: 24 Pound (Pack of 1)
I've been ordering this dog food for my senior German Shepherd who has a chicken allergy. It is so hard to find dog food without chicken. My local grocery store doesn't carry even one brand of true poultry free dog food. Even Iams and Blue Buffalo uses poultry byproducts. Nature's Recipe is a good quality dog food at a reasonable price that is proud of being poultry free - which I appreciate so much! Many times I have bought dog food that I thought was poultry free only to see my dog break out in a bright red itchy rash on his belly. Then I'll read the ingredients closer and find poultry byproducts in there. This one is a tried and true brand for us, and I highly recommend. I appreciate their attention to quality ingredients. Oh, and my dog loves it! ... show more

    • good food good price, and dog is doing well.
Size: 24 Pound (Pack of 1)
I have a big Plott hound, really big for the breed. (slim 75 pounds) He eats as he pleases, it is always fully available. After dogs and cats get used to the idea that they can eat as much or as little as they need, the manitain a helathy weight for the rest of their lives, but Veterinarians hate this practice. We have done this since 1985 and we have had no problems. Except one time we got a super skinny cat from the pound and he got fat like Garfield during the first year, he then slimmed down and stayed a healthy weight for the next 21 years. He was not fat or thin, but just right. I like the 24 pound bag because I can easily handle it. I pour it into a dispenser about once a month. The animal's waste is healthy UNLESS somebody gives him other things to eat. I like this food for my dog. yes it is a little stinky on the day when I fill the container, but after the first 2 days, I don't notice it and neither do others who visit. ... show more

    • Do NOT buy if it’s not Grain Free!!!!

We have 4 dogs, two of which are black labs. They have a completely different coat than our outside, country guard dogs, so we are very picky about what to feed them. We switched to Nature’s Recipe Grain Free dog food several months ago, and that product is fantastic in regards to filling them up and keeping a nice, shiny coat. Last month I thought I’d try a new flavor for them, and I picked the Original, thinking it was also grain free. That was 1000% my fault!! Last month our dogs started itching like crazy! To the point of biting their hair out! I showered them with prescription shampoo, added coconut oil to their good, tried a daily egg, added a natural vitamin E oil to their coats, started them on daily Zyrtec, and occasionally gave them a Benadryl, for their sanity and ours to be honest. When our dog food started getting low, I took the almost empty bag out of our pantry, and that’s when it finally hit me!!! It was the f*ing food! I felt like a damn jerk!! They have been absolutely miserable day/night, and even the vet visit didn’t bring up thoughts about their food. This company’s GRAIN FREE food is great and we will continue to buy it! But if I were you, I would not ever, ever but this product again, nor would I even donate it or feed it to a stray! The pics were taken about 2 1/2 weeks in after starting the Original food. The itching almost completely subsided 4-5 after going back to the GRAIN FREE!! I hope this review saves someone else and their fur babies from having to go through this!! ... show more

    • Our dogs enjoy it
Size: 24 Pound (Pack of 1)
At the time I came across this brand, I was doing research in best dry dog food for dogs as far as nutrients and quality ingredients, no fillers and that sort of thing. Comparing prices of each that were highly regarded. Nature's Recipe came highly recommended and it was less expensive than some of the other brands that we had been using. No issues with the dogs. They are maintaining a healthy weight and don't have any health issues while switching to this dog food. ... show more

    • Maintains good weight
Size: 24 Pound (Pack of 1)
My 2 dogs are on this food & has been for about 2 years now. My dog was obese after being on bedrest from tearing her ACL. We had to get her weight down, and this food has been perfect. The vet says she is now at the perfect weight. Plus I like the price point and the ingredients in this food. My dogs get a little splash of milk in their food too. ... show more

    • Crumbs
Size: 24 Pound (Pack of 1)
Review Image by L
This product has a lot of crumbs. If my dogs didn't like it so well I would have changed brands by now. I've been using this for awhile and the problem is getting worse. The last half of the bag I have to use a calendar to shake out the crumbs. I had to downgrade my rating because I'm throwing away1/4 bag of food each month! This is the lamb and barley, I use the small bites it has some crumbs but not as many as the larger bites. I hope the company can do something about this problem so I don't have to change brands. ... show more
