  • Best pine tar soap ever
I started using this soap a few years ago because the workers at my local Whole Foods kept pushing it on me every time I was in the body care department--after trying a sample I was a convert. I even met one of the owners of the company (I forgot her name) when she was in Whole Foods doing a demonstration. This is a small company that cares very much about the integrity of their product (they focus and specialize on one item), and the production is traditional and by hand. The soap itself is an ugly brown color which can leave gross looking little brown plops in your shower, but they get quickly rinsed away, and this soap does lather beautifully with a natural sponge or nylon exfoliating cloth. The smell is an intense smoky pine, and I quite like it. The scent really is unique to this brand and other popular brands of pine tar soap seem synthetic in comparison. This soap is the only product I've found in the U.S. that reminds me of the soaps and creams used in Finnish spas. I have sensitive skin that reddens easily and this soap is very soothing. The soap rinses easily and leaves you feeling clean but moisturized. The soap lasts a fairly decent while--maybe two months for me. With that said, it's well worth the price and I'll continue buying it as long as I can. ... show more

  • Best all around soap for face and Body!
This soap is absolutely the best for face and body at controlling seemingly all skin conditions! I first purchased it from a natural food store named Mother's Market at the recommendation of the health and beauty sales associate. She had been using it, and recommending it for years for all skin conditions from acne to eczema. Over the last few years I would stock up with a few bars every visit since I live a solid hours drive away from Mother's Market, and hadn't found it locally in the Los Angeles area. Now I've found it on the Kreamy Soaps Amazon page and couldn't be happier, and they even provided free next day delivery for being a Prime member hahaha! Now it would seem a bit odd that something that would remedy a dry area, my face and forehead, could help an overly oily area like my neck and scalp, but it does, and in a gentle way. It works like a natural adaptogen, adjusting to the skins particular needs. As for the scent others mentioned... it does have a bit of what I describe to friends as a "earthy" or "woody" tone but, it's something that to me is far from overwhelming, (nothing like a lingering Patchouli oil which causes me grief whenever I'm around it), and has no residual smell and I have fragrance sensitivity issues with damn anything and everything! Probably mostly due to its natural origin. The bar suds up very nice and last unusually long! I highly 5 Star recommend this product! ... show more

  • Great Soap, terrific for bug bites too!
This is really a good soap and it lasts twice as long as other brands. Not my favorite smell but I wear lotion and perfume so it isn't a deal breaker. This stuff is amazing for itchy bites and scratches. Working in the yard after a bad storm, my arms and legs were all scratched up from limbs and scratchy vines and looked awful. Then tragedy struck... chigger attack! I am mildly allergic to the bites and they welt and itch for days. I would happily scratch my skin off clear to the bone the itching is so bad. I have tried a lot of remedies, but the lather from this soap works wonders. Helps to heal the scratches quickly and stops the itches for hours. I will shower with it and then when dry use a little bit of the lather left on the bar right on the bites. I don't rinse it off and it controls the itching for at least eight hours, it never irritates my skin and I have sensitive skin. It also helps the bites heal faster. I have had the bites remain sores for as long as three months before being completely healed. Using the soap daily, the sores will heal in a week or so. ... show more

  • Absolutely amazing soap.
I absolutely love this soap. It was recently unavailable on Amazon when I went to reorder it and after trying a couple of others I was inspired to write to the company via their website and ask why. I'm pleased it is back in stock. I don't really think of myself as the sort of person who would take the time to write a review of a bar of soap, but this a next-level product, especially when compared to the other Pine Tar bars I tried. If anyone out there WHO HAS USED THIS SOAP thinks there is a superior pine tar soap, I would love to know what it is called. This has a very strong pine tar fragrance that smells completely natural, which to me indicates that actual pine tar is a significant ingredient, and not just an added perfume. Even more important is the lather. It is incredibly rich, white and foamy like a good cappuccino. I'm embarrassing myself here, but it really isn't an exaggeration to say that I look forward to taking a shower when I know there is a bar of this in the soap dish. ... show more

  • Doesn’t make you smell clean

  • Decent soap, but oh the SMELL
So I guess I had the expectation that 'unscented' meant...well, no smell. But 'Pine Tar' is pretty much what it smells like. Very piney and tarry. The bathroom will smell like a newly paved parking lot surrounded by pine trees. Don't get me wrong, the soap's properties are nice. My skin feels great, it cleanses nicely, and even lasts a while given that it's a hand crafted bar. But as a woman, smelling like a lumberjack just isn't my cup of tea. Even if it's a clean lumberjack. ... show more

  • It has helped clear up my raging hormonal skin slightly (more on my body than my face) and it does leave my skin nice and soft
This soap does well for my skin. I bought it as a natural product to use during pregnancy (and I've heard it helps with pregnancy related rashes, helps repel mosquitos, and clears up your skin.) It has not been the miracle cure people have claimed it to be. It has helped clear up my raging hormonal skin slightly (more on my body than my face) and it does leave my skin nice and soft. It has not completely "cured" my pregacne, but it has helped. I also haven't noticed if it helps repel bugs since where I live its 100 degrees and I try to stay in as much as possible! The scent of the soap is not off putting and it does not stain my shower/tub. It does lather a light brown color, but it washes off easily. The scent reminds me of a campfire and is rather strong, but not unpleasant (if you like that campfire smell). It does not linger on my skin very much after I shower. ... show more
