Description

SAUSAGE CASINGS ARE THE HIDDEN SUPERHERO OF YOUR SAUSAGE. Your sausage casing is what keeps all your carefully chosen ingredients, flavors and juices in and it also dictates the texture and eating experience of your final sausage. NATURAL SAUSAGE CASINGS HAVE AN AMAZING SEMIPERMEABLE WALL WHICH BREATHES meaning your beautiful BBQ/cooking/ smoking flavors can permeate the casing and infuse your sausage meat. In contrast, collagen casings have a wall like soft plastic that can not absorb any flavor and are prone to splitting which. THE END RESULT IS A SUPERIOR SAUSAGE with better flavor and juiciness, great sizzle and the much prized sausage “pop” that you can only get from a sausage made with a natural casing. So don't settle for sad a dry, tasteless collagen casing. Choose a natural casing every time. Our sheep casings are sourced from New Zealand farms, where the animals are grass fed and free to roam our rolling green hills. They are also free of artificial additives and growth hormones and fully traceable from the farm gate to your plate. Our natural hog casings come from Germany. The New Zealand Casings Company is owned and run by Luke & Tracy Kavanagh. Luke is seriously passionate about the age-old craft of making natural casings and is also a fanatical sausage maker – so he knows his sausage stuff. Luke and Tracy set out to make the best sausage casings in the world and they wanted craft butchers and home sausage makers to have access to our best, 'A Grade' product, so his is what our internet packs contain. We hope you enjoy them. Our natural sheep casings are Certified Halal by the New Zealand Islamic Development Trust*. They are processed in our dedicated sheep casings facility in Hawkes Bay, New Zealand that only process sheep casings. We currently supply our halal certified sheep casings to sausage makers in Egypt, Turkey, UAE and Saudi Arabia under strict halal requirements. Our Hog Casings are sourced and processed in a separate facility in Germany. * Halal License HL MP2901/2020

  • Good quality
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
Have bought this product before and always find it to be of good quality. No breaks and excellent for home made sausages. It made about 8 pounds.

  • Best Casing for me
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
Best casings I've ever used. Nice size diameter for fullfilling sausages. It's packed on a tube so easily loads on my nozzle which is almost same diameter. This is so smart and helpful. Casings don't tear when I load them and fills well. Also the salt packing keeps them fresh longer.

  • Rinse - Rinse - Rinse
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
🐑🐑🐑🐑 Four Genuine Sheep Rating! Purchased these casings to do pepperoni sticks. The skins were packaged on two plastic tubes. I soaked and then rinsed inside and out several times, as the sheep skins had an odor. They were a little large for pepperoni sticks, but were easy to attach to the nozzle. No tearing when filling. Great texture and no aftertaste. I feel they worked well and had a good snap. The price was high for the amount of meat they do but okay for doing smaller batches. ... show more

  • Good quality
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
I am new to sausage making so buying casing are a new adventure for me. These sounded good so thought to give them a try. I wasn't quite prepared to actually make the sausage and grind it yet, but being new wanted to check out these casings just in case. I opened and cut off a little piece to soak. After about 45 minutes I checked and it was pretty well rehydrated but but it back in for longer. After 2 hours, I'd say you can use them easily. Decided to go ahead and test it until the next morning and by then they were really good and supple. I'm planning to grind and make sausage next week...and will definitely soak overnight. They stretch much better and will work alot better. ... show more

  • Weak casings that blowout constantly while stuffing.
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
If you want to only stuff half full and still have multiple blowouts, this product is for you. I have stuffed hundreds of pounds of sausage with little trouble on blowouts first off. I was looking for a specific size and these were them, so I bought them. I soaked them in 90 plus degree water for over 3 hours, package says minimum 45 minutes to overnight. I set my sausage stuffer to low speed, much lower than when stuffing my pepperoni. I could get a foot, maybe 2 before a blowout, and that's only filling the casings about half full. Then when twisting for links they would tear very easily. Thank goodness I have hog casings to finish the job. I do not recommend this product. ... show more

  • Shrinkflation. These are 19-21mm casings
Size: 1 inch casing, 229 ft long, makes ~48 lb
I ordered 24-26mm sheep casings but the casings are clearly the 19-21mm size, as many other US reviewers can attest. Classic “shrinkflation” move. Annoying. This may explain why I had trouble sliding it on the tube, which slowed down the process drying it out and leading to blowouts. Don’t use the 0.5-0.6” nozzle. You need to use one for the 19-21mm size, which is the 0.4” nozzle. Doesn’t look like US customers can get the real 24-26mm size from them right now. ... show more

  • Great, easy to work with sheep casings
Size: 1 inch casing, 32 ft long, makes ~7 lb
Used these casings to make traditional French sausages. They are super easy to work with. They come pre-tubed and, as advertised, there were no shorts. Each tube was a single ~16ft casing. Gently soaked in warm water for around 1h and they were easy to transfer onto the stuffer. No tears at all during the stuffing process. Happily recommended! ... show more
