If you like great synth key bed action (it reminds me of a brand new Yamaha DX-7 ca. 1984), then you'll love this keyboard. It has the best feeling keyboard since the seminal DX7. The build quality is top-notch for the entire unit; the displays for each rotary encoder look amazing. If you own Komplete and need a smaller keyboard, do not hesitate to get this. I liked it so much I bought an S61! NI also has plans to have deep integration with all VST plug-ins that support their native mapping API-- when that comes, this will be a no-brainer. My I-Mac was unable to detect to the KK S25. Native Instruments advised me to update the Firmware, which could not be done because the device could not be detected. I attempted the Firmware update on multiple computers, but to no avail. Sadly, I ended up returning the KK S25.

    • NI Customer Service and hardware quality are atrocious

After a few months of very light use, the ribbon strips do not work. They get stuck at the top or bottom making them worse than useless because the only way to reset them is to power down. There are multiple threads on the Native Instrument forums. If have purchased this item or the Kontrol S49 or S61 and you have this issue (seems likely that you will have this problem), BE VERY CAREFUL in your decision to send your Kontrol Keyboard in for repair/replacement. I had the touch ribbon problems. I sent an email, they requested a video of the problem. I sent them the video. They agreed to take a look at it, sent me the shipping sheet to FedEx it to them. I did. They confirmed receipt. That was a month ago. I haven't heard a thing from them. Several days ago, I asked for a status update. Haven't heard a thing. So, I am having to consider going to my state's Attorney General's office and filing a consumer complaint against NI. Unbelievable. I have owned Komplete 8, 9 and 10. Before that I owned Absynth 2, 3, and 4. I own a Machine Micro Controller and software. I have purchased separately Session Strings Pro and Molekular and several expansions for Maschine. Can you imagine a more loyal long term customer? And this is how they treat me. I am so frustrated with NI, even though I do actually get a lot of enjoyment from the software, after the way they have treated me in this case, I wish I could get all my money back from them and take my musical purchases elsewhere. Sorely, sorely disappointed. I am not sure I will ever get my Kontrol keyboard back. I wouldn't even care if I hadn't put $500 into it. Not a fan of NI at this point! ... show more
