The media could not be loaded. This interactive calendar may be designed for Advent, but it's really great for engaging kids any time of year. My kids (ages 8 and 10) have only opened a handful of days but they've already made fake snow, a glow stick, and learned about acids and bases with hand-on activities. At their age, my kids appreciated our involvement. The box stays really neat and came with clear and simple instructions. For some of the resulting equipment like lab goggles and measuring cups, it's good to have a gallon ziploc bag or small bin to hold onto them for the rest of the days. Out of all our advent calendars over the years which included toy figurines and chocolates, this one has been the most exciting for my kids.

Update — We are about 10 days in, and my son (almost nine) says this is the best advent I’ve ever done for him. The non-experiment days are definitely less exciting, but the experiments are all pretty fun. ——- I opened all the days of this advent calendar last night, so I could transfer the things to my own advent calendar thing that we always use. Initial impressions - - my son will probably be excited about the days he gets a little experiment to do, and much less excited about the days where it’s just a stone. Even though he loves crystals and fossils etc, it’s going to be a different vibe on those days (about 8 in total, and four in a row near the end of the advent). For those days with just a stone, I added a little chocolate treat to his advent baggie to open. - I thought WTF about the four days in a row just before Xmas, but maybe that is a blessing because parents will be busy just before the holiday and won’t have as much time to help with an experiment? - not sure if it’s all the sets or just mine, but some of the items were mixed up, in terms of what day of this advent calendar they were actually in, and how they were listed in the corresponding booklet. I sorted it out, into my own advent, but just be prepared for potential confusion if you are doing it out of this box. But overall I hope this is a good experience. I’m glad for an advent that is mostly experiences, not crappy little toys like we’ve done some years. And he is sort of tapped out on Lego advents.

Bought for my daughter last December and it was a big hit!! She couldn’t wait to get home from school each day to open her next window. Sometimes she even woke up early to do it before school! She would spend time learning the tricks and loved to show them off to people. It was very entertaining! This was such a great gift for a great price. I love advent calendars but don’t always want to give candy so this is perfect.

The media could not be loaded. I got this for myself, I'm a 34 year old adult :) I saw it on sale for $9 bucks on Black Friday and wish I had grabbed a couple because it's a steal- even at the full price. I'm not a paid reviewer (maybe one day?) I just was really pleased and surprised by this! I want you to get this for your kiddo or yourself if you're pondering because I really think it's worth it. At the time of this review it's listed for about $16 last I looked. I love glow in the dark, I love space theme and I love dinos, I really enjoy hands on activities too and this had everything. At first glance I thought I was just getting little glow figures, which I thought "Okay sick 24 little glow figures to place around my room or add with gifts for friends etc." but it ended up being way cooler! If you don't want spoilers for what's inside then stop reading here. I loved that this was a really unique advent calendar and I honestly wish more were like this!! I got several glow figures, 3 space themed sun catchers to paint with glowing paints, 4 rocks with paints and dino stencils to decorate them with, an invisible ink marker that came with a little uv light to read the messages, And TWO bouncy ball molds with the powder mix to make them. Oh and a crystal which was maybe the most disappointing part as it just is a rough cut with a tiny plastic stand but honestly the quality of this whole product was very impressive. The packaging was well made and designed all the compartments are fully separated and the punch out parts are firm but easy to open. I didn't end up using this as an advent because it was just a cheap treat to myself and my inner child and I was really curious to know what I got for the price so I opened the whole thing and had such joy doing so. Just had to come make a review because I want other people to know how cool it was and so that this company does well and keeps making them !! Can we get year round goal oriented advents? Whoever put this together, bravo, get a raise🙌
