  • son absolutely loved this!
Easy to put together (though hard enough to keep a 7yo stimulated for a few hours), sturdy and not cheap. Son needed just a little help for firm pressure by an adult to snap together the cannon balls. The rest he did by himself. He added army men to his play and drew his own targets to make a "war". Hours of fun. Highly recommend for those that like to put puzzles together and build things. ... show more

  • These are fun and work well.
The catapult: Easiest to assemble of the lot and shoots incredibly far for its size. It will launch its little bolder 10 or 12 feet. It functions smoothly and without fail. The ballista: A couple of complicated steps in the build for a kid. Shoots very well, probably 8 feet or so and with enough force to sting a little if it hits you (not that you should do that). :) The cannon: Its the toughest build, but my 10 year old still only needed help on 4 or 5 steps. It's the least functional of the three though. It does shoot, but not very far. The trigger mechanism is difficult to manage and it's easy to force part of the machine out of place when trying to fire it. Overall, good buy and a lot of fun for my kids. I'd do a similar set again with them for sure. ... show more

  • Bad rubber bands
Great kit, fun to assemble. Make sure you have glue and extra rubber bands on hand- the rubber bands included were old, gummy and broke with gentle handling.

  • Great gifts.
If you want a gift for younger children where they can learn and have a good bonding experience with you, I recommend these. These are a little bit complicated but with the help of an adult it can be easier, as well as a great bonding experience with your kid and or nieces and nephews. Fair warning these are pretty fragile. So make sure you're keeping track of all the pieces. ... show more

  • Nice gift
A bit advanced for my boy but he helped put it together and while challenging they all went together well and worked - I didn’t bother to glue anything and they hold well!

  • For kids that like to build
My 10 year old daughter was very excited about this. Note that she also likes legos and construction sets in general, and likes to follow the instruction manuals. Built one of the three projects on different days. The catapult was the easiest to build, followed by the ballista and the cannon. It comes with laser pre-cut wooden boards for each project, a bag of additional pieces clearly separated by project and small piece of sandpaper. The pieces are cut with a high level of precision. All the pieces fit snuggly. Note that the project requires glue, that's not included. We used carpenter glue, which is stronger than school glue, but project glue might work also. Doesn't need much, just a few drops per project on some of the pieces. However it's not included. On some parts, because the fit is tight, might do without. Also make sure the kids don't put too much glue, otherwise it will en up jamming the pieces. Each project includes a separate booklet with the instructions and extensive tidbits of informations about each design. Very instructive. All three projects worked and it's been a hit. I highly recommend it ... show more

  • Decent models with some problems
The models turn out decent and they shoot the projectiles a good distance. There are some problems with the wheels on two of the models that have them. Some wheels did not have holes drilled and some did not fit the dowel well and broke the dowel. I have the tools and extra dowels so I was able to fix these issues, but most people especially kids would not be able to complete the model. These require wood glue and patience so they are not great for younger kids or people without basic building knowledge. ... show more
