This game was good, it just wasn’t as interesting as I thought it would be. Too simple for me. Good game though

  • A weird one.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day 1 Edition
As NASCAR games go Ignition is up there with Heat Evolution in terms of poor launch quality but where the latter failed in pretty much every department, Ignition at least offers some decent racing - providing you're prepared to dumb things down a little. Without any proper settings (mainly to alter the steering offset a couple of degrees in order to make the car drive in a straight line) or onscreen info as you're driving it's next to impossible to approach the game as the sim racer Motorsport Games intended it to be because it's just way too difficult, but lowering difficulty and adding some steering assist does create that ability to race the circuits. Sure, it's not an ideal scenario but it still kind of presents the opportunity to bring the NASCAR experience forward from the Heat games. I say this because much as I enjoyed Heat's 2-5 they never really crossed over from arcade-esque gameplay (and of course they were created with the godawful Unity engine) and as a result any sense of danger or intensity you would expect from close pack racing just wasn't present. Ignition is very, very poor in most departments...but that intensity and danger is clearly there to be seen. But at the end of the day the game comes with a AAA price tag and whilst some progression has been made from 704's Heat games the bulk of Ignition feels under-developed and rushed to meet deadlines, so with no guarantees that future patches will resolve ongoing issues it's next to impossible to recommend a purchase. I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a waste of money but having had to pay various taxes on top of the store price to get the game shipped to the UK I just see it as a game I wished I'd waited til it was an awful lot cheaper. ... show more

  • Worse than Sponge Bob Racing
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day 1 Edition
What happens when you tell talented graphic artists that only use uber and have never played any racing game in the last 30 years to make the next NASCAR title? THIS. I feel bad that they spent this much time making a title so bad. This is clearly not what they want to be designing. If you want to play a worse racing game buy Days of Thunder for NES. This one takes a close 2nd to that. As nations go green we should pass a bill to ensure no electricity is spent continuing this franchise. Let it fade away into the landfill. Now for some more serious and slightly useful feedback. When you are in a race and pause it how about allowing us to change the driving aids? That way when you turn them off thinking you can use your well tuned GT skills and realize this game is more like Disney on Ice than GT you can turn ABS and Traction Control back on to be able to make a lap. Once said driver is spinning on ice it would be nice if the AI responded with some "I." Driving into me relentlessly as I try to get out of the way gets old quick. When you go into a single race to be able to do a quick arcade style race why do I have to choose to look at crew chief or a tablet? Its a quick race. There is no accuracy to the handling model so why would I bother with a setup? Maybe in the setup allow us to switch from antique 1967 bias ply tires to some 2021 Goodyears and actually have some traction? With all of the driving aids on why does it turn like a garden tractor pulling a farm equipment? Is the handling model shared with Farming Simulator? Get some beta testers and try to improve it with patches. Tony Stewart racing is barebones on graphics compared to this but is 1000x better to play. Maybe buy that company out and apply your graphics to their ability to make a game that resembles racing. ... show more

  • Nice NASCAR Sim Racer, but plagued by bugs and lack of content.
Platform For Display: Xbox One Edition: Day 1 Edition
Game has a lot of potential, but is missing a lot. If you are looking for an arcade racer, this is not it. There is more realism in this game than the Heat franchise. So it will take practice to get used to this. A lot of key elements is missing. No rear view mirror for example. Still quite a few bugs in the game. Hopefully, it will get better with patches. ... show more
