    • Tricky assembly, but take your time and it's worth the wait

I was looking for a drawer unit to position next to my electronics bench to store and organize a variety of handheld meters, probes, tools, and supplies that clutter up the bench and its shelves. Seeing this had 7 drawers with casters at a height conducive to serving as a mobile stand for my bench laptop, it looked like a good option at a reasonable price. I've assembled uncountable items of particleboard and MDF furniture like this over the years, and I'm also obsessively attentive to detail, so even after reading several reviews complaining about the difficulty of assembly, I wasn't daunted. In the end, I'm satisfied with the result, but could easily see how others might be dissatisfied, so allow me to share some observations and tips. First the pros: + It's an attractive unit + 7 drawers provide a lot of storage and organizational possibilities, although the drawers aren't particularly deep so just be sure that what you expect to store will fit + Once assembled, it actually feels quite sturdy (with the caveat about casters noted below) Now the cons: - Can be tricky to assemble if you're not paying attention - Particleboard is somewhat low density, definitely not IKEA quality, which requires care with assembly (thought once assembled, it does feel sturdy enough); most of all DO NOT overtighten screws - Quality of fasteners is mediocre at best, including screws and cams; Screw heads are prone to stripping from cam-out, and I had one cam for a drawer face snap while tightening it down, but it's holding and not load-bearing so I left it alone (I have some spare cams from prior furniture builds that are compatible should I need them) - If fully loaded with a lot of weight, I have doubts about the ability of the small & cheap casters to support much movement; they'll likely be okay if left in a static position, but then why have casters? I wanted the mobility to be able to move it around when needed, so this remains to be seen Due to the aforementioned quality issues, careless assembly can clearly result in an unpleasant experience and dissatisfaction with the product. However I find that once it's all together, it does feel sturdy enough for its purpose. Here's some tips for those who may be considering this unit but might be wary after reading some of these reviews: First and foremost, TAKE YOUR TIME! Rushing assembly because you "know what you're doing" could easily lead to problems. Take a moment to look through the brief instruction set to the end, so you can get an idea of sequence and details like drawer rail orientation before you start. Take inventory of the parts and lay them out in some logical order before you start. As others have noted, the small screws used for installing the drawer rails need to be carefully driven flat to avoid the drawers binding in the rails, as there's very little tolerance for protrusion; these screws are prone to tilt a bit as they go in, and can easily finish with one side of the head tilted up enough to bind. I was careful after reading other reviews, and yet still had one of the 42 screws used on the rails bind up and require reseating The supplied screws, especially the small ones (there are 100 of these!), are of soft metal. It's VERY important to use a quality screwdriver bit that is sized properly, as the slightest amount of cam-out (where the bit spins in the screw head) due to wrong bit size or over-torquing will strip out the screw head very easily. I used a good quality PH2 sized bit. Be sure to apply a firm downward pressure but do not over-torque or over-tighten the screws (see note below on power screwdrivers). Also, with this particleboard not being very dense, it's very easy to strip the screw threads by over-tightening. Virtually NONE of these screws will tighten to a hard stop -- if you attempt to tighten until they stop, you will strip out the threads! Just stop when the pressure firms up a bit. I found that using my finger tips on the manual screwdriver (see below) instead of a ham-fisted grip will give you good tactile sense of what is "tight enough." You'll also start to hear a slight "crackling" sound, which is the particleboard starting to give way to the screw threads, so that's a good audible indicator to STOP tightening. Finally, the instructions caution against using a drill or power screwdriver, for understandable reasons -- the particleboard and the fasteners are both of soft material, and just a little too much speed or torque can strip screw threads and heads, and break cams. That said, due to the sheer number of screws included (well over 120 as I recall), it will take a LOT of time and considerable wrist endurance to manually screw them all in. So while I would definitely not use a drill or drill-sized driver, you can use the small rechargeable 3.0v-4.7v power screwdrivers as long as they deliver low torque (or are set to their lowest torque setting). Being somewhat of a tool hoarder, I have a large assortment of screwdrivers in all shapes and sizes, manual and electric. For this assembly, I used 3 different screwdrivers: 2 electric and 1 manual ratcheting. I did NOT allow the electric screwdrivers to tighten any of the screws, I stopped short of bottoming out the screws and finished each with the manual ratcheting screwdriver. For the large screws I used a NoCry electric screwdriver (Amazon part# B0795471QZ -- you can search for these part numbers in Amazon's search bar) set on its #2 torque setting. For the small screws I used the Craftsman 4V rechargeable screwdriver (Amazon part# B08WVKJ42C), which is an excellent light weight, low-torque driver. Again, the point with these is LOW TORQUE and not using them to finish tightening the screws. Once the screws were 80-90% of the way in, I switched to the manual ratcheting screwdriver to finish tightening. I used the Workpro 12-in-1 Ratcheting Screwdriver (Amazon part# B0761K3H82), another favorite of mine. You obviously don't have to use these exact tools to get good results, I'm just offering what worked well for me in case you have something similar at hand. ... show more

This drawer set was easy to assemble and took about 2 hours by myself. No hammering is needed and fits all my nails and craft supplies easily. It also allows for a bit more extended desk space with ease. It also is small enough so that it does not take up too much space.

I did not assemble this myself. There are lots of pieces to assemble. It took my son approximately 3 hours to assemble. It is wonderful. I am currently using this item in a craft room. The drawers fit 8 rolls of standard sized vinyl each. The lower drawers are slightly larger than the top drawers, but not by much. The item arrived without any markings, mars, or scratches. Every hole lined up. All parts were marked for easy access. However there were no wheels. It does take atleast 3 hrs to put together. It’s made well. Very happy about that. I did purchase because of the wheels to make it Mobil. Hopefully the seller will reach out and send them.

The media could not be loaded. I love the dresser. I did think the top large area was a drawer, not a cabinet since the description says “6 drawers” not “5 drawers and 1 cabinet.” One drawer I had to secure with wood glue because the holes drilled by the manufacturer were not in the correct spot, they were about a centimeter off (shown in photo). I ended up not using the screws on that part and just using the glue. My kit also did NOT include the hex screw that the instructions said were included. I have one I could’ve used, but I only used the Phillips screwdriver for the entire thing. The wheels were AWFUL to put on. Some of the drilled holes were blocked up and I ended up breaking one of the screws when securing the first wheel since I was trying so hard to get the screw in. It is also bigger than I expected. Not sure if my measurements are off or if the dresser itself is bigger than the description. All in all, it does exactly what I wanted it to. It still looks great. It took me a total of 2 1/2 hours to assemble on my own, but worth it in the end. ... show more

For the value, I suppose it is ok. It wasn't difficult to assemble, but it did take me nearly an hour. The dresser itself is made from particle board which looks good. Due to the drawer slide mechanism, I give the product two out of five stars for sturdiness. The slide operates with cutouts in the individual drawers sliding over plastic inserts that are screwed into the sides of the dresser. The fit between the cutouts and the inserts could be better (there's way too much space between the drawer and the inserts), and I need to consistently readjust the individual drawers so they slide correctly. To overcome this issue, the company added a small plastic pin that inserts in the drawers and is supposed to ride inside the inserts and prevent the drawers from being pulled out of the dresser. However, the plastic pins are not long enough to make up for the space gap between the drawers and the inserts, making them practically useless. Overall I am not pleased or dissatisfied with this purchase. I was looking for a cheap dresser for my office, and this will do the job. I would recommend something other than this product to someone with money to spare. Get yourself a better quality/more expensive dresser. ... show more
