  • An easy to use sand blaster!
Many's the time I've wished I had a sand blaster for cleaning and etching. When I saw this one, I couldn't believe my eyes! It's one heck of a value for a low price! It uses air power from your compressor. It uses gravity to feed your sand or shot for blasting and etching. It removes paint REALLY easily, and it did a good job etching a scrap of glass. Understand that you MUST have a sheet of rubber to protect anything you want to etch! You cut a pattern into the rubber, so you'll need a separate sheet of rubber for each pattern you want to etch. You buse different abrasives for different projects, like sand, silicon carbide, fine metal shot or walnut shells. It is large in your hand, but it isn't heavy (unless you use steel shot!). Your compressor needs to put out at LEAST 90 pounds of air pressure. In the box are a pair of gloves, decent goggles, several ceramic nozzles, connectors and teflon tape to seal all air connections. It works! I like it! I finally have the sand blaster I've always wanted! ... show more

  • Easy to use. Good for small jobs.
The tool is very simple to use. Connect it to your air compressor, pour some grit in the hopper, and pull the trigger. The spray is pretty narrow and there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust it, so if you have a large area you need to clean, it is going to take a long time and a lot of grit. For smaller object, it works great. I used it to strip several old layers of paint off some metal parts and it worked perfectly. The hopper had a screen inside the fill hole. The manual doesn't explain if you need to use it all the time so I just left it in place. The screen is held in place by an elastic band, which can get in the way when screwing the lid on. The kit does not include any grit, so you will need to order that separately. It includes some safety goggles which I didn't plan on using. I started out with a grinders face shield, but the dust gets everywhere so I switched to the goggles to protect my eyes better. The goggles aren't great, but they worked. One other thing it does not include that you absolutely will need is a good respirator mask. Don't skimp and use a paper mask. The dust this creates is very fine and you will need a good respirator to protect your lungs. ... show more

  • This One ACTUALLY Had Me Laughing Out Loud At It….
Welp, I'll never get back that hour and twenty minutes! First off the manual has no idea what PSI to recommend running the tool at. It mentions in three different spots, three different PSi numbers. It says on the SAME PAGE not to exceed 200 PSI AND 150 PSI and then in the specs it says Max is 150 PSI again but the “Operating Pressure” is 90 PSI. So no help from the included manual on how to PROPERLY Set Up or Run the tool. I am a Contractor so this is not a new concept to me and in fact, I have an old Discount Tool Store version of a gravity blaster that is lost somewhere in my sea of tools at the moment. I believe it was in the same price tier and that one came with a metal nozzle vs. this one coming with ceramic nozzles that are held in place by a plastic threaded cap and an O-Ring. ….yuuup, I’m still laughing. Then I get to reading the manual closer and the “SANDBLASTER” says in its own manual, “WARNING! Do not use sand for blasting.” Now I’m rolling on the floor laughing…a “sandblaster” that you are not to use sand in! So, more accurately, this is a “MEDIA BLASTER” and not a “Sandblaster.” OK OK, now with all the PSI confusion hanging in the wind and word play sorted, I got to testing it. I tested it everywhere from 90 PSI all the way PAST 200 and in all circumstances this blaster feeds poorly. What's worse is it only dispenses properly if I hold the trigger lever in a certain spot and in a certain way otherwise it just dumps out media or nothing at all comes out. The only way to get it to put out a consistent, proper amount of “media” is to pull the lever all the way and then let it out until I felt it hit a speed bump in the travel, let out just a tad more, then stop and hold it right there in the middle of travel at that exact spot while holding my mouth right. Even then it still didn’t do nearly as good of a job as my other one that is lost at sea. Still laughing, because that is all I can do. I can’t use the tool for why it was made because it doesn't work as intended. I think I’m going to have to go for a swim and rescue my old one from the depths so we can catch up with each other and do some real work, really quickly and efficiently without dumping media all over the ground and into the wind. I wouldn’t order this one again. The entire thing feels, uhmmm…what’s a PC term? Uh….Basic. Yeah, basic. There is nothing done well on the blaster. The body feels low quality, the lever trigger is way too long and wiggles back and forth on top of the in and out that it is supposed to travel. The “disposable” ceramic, plastic and O'Ring nozzle assembly is so 80’s and I’ve been over it since about that time too. They even put this weirdo bungee tether around the top of the tank threads that is supposed to serve as a keeper to not lose the screen that sits in the hopper and they put a hole in the lid, large enough, that it spews media when letting off and on the trigger…so media comes out of 2 holes intermittently just to keep you on your toes. I can see why they included the high school shop class goggles and the gloves that do not fit…and I have small hands for an adult male comparatively speaking. So if they do not fit me then, good luck! I would have rather had them leave out the low quality PPE and put that money into making a unit that actually worked as intended. The makeshift tether around the hopper threads interferes with threading the cap on the hopper nicely and both the cap and the hopper threads can be seen contorting and bending while forcing through the screw on action to put the cap on. I even fed the end of the “tether” through the hole in the cap to see if if would stop media from being blown out of the cap hole and allow the cap to mount on the hopper “more better” without that metal thing on the tether being on the rim of the hopper hole and that didn’t help and made it super awkward to load more media into when the time came.: After testing it, wrestling it and having media coming out the cap and dumping out the nozzle and messing with holding the trigger just right to get it to dispense properly all I could do was disconnect it from my air line, toss it on the pile of rusty chain I was testing it on and laugh at it. It's going in the scrap pile as soon as I pull the plastic bits off of it because I will NEVER, EVER, EVER use it again because of how poorly it works and I do not have time nor the patience to mess with tools that fight with me. As a Contractor, the work I do on the normal daily basis is bad enough that I do not need my tool supply making it harder and more miserable. This one I would not recommend, nor would I order it again. I had high hopes for it and it was packaged up so nice but I guess it tricked me and made me think it was something it is clearly not. Might make a good paperweight though! ... show more

  • Works great and it's made mostly of metal, except the sand bin.
Nice tool and it works great. You have to keep it upright to feed the sand of course. It came with gloves and surprisingly comfortable and high-quality goggles. The gloves actually fit, usually they're comically small from a Chinese manufacturer. The instructions were coherent and not printed in a font only children can read. I recommend the product. I've used it for about 2 hours and it works quite well. ... show more

  • Very handy, with easy setup.
For starters this is only going to work as well as your air compressor. If you have a small air compressor, this might not work very well. That being said if you have a compressor that's over 30 gallons you shouldn't have too much of an issue. The body of the sandblasting gun is metal, the media tank is plastic with a metal screen which is a nice touch. It comes with the air fitting, a pair of goggles, and a pair of gloves. The gloves aren't going to work very well if you're using sand, the sand's just going to get into the gloves and be irritating. And really you need a face mask other than just goggles, unless you're doing something very small. When you're blasting with media it goes all over the place, and I mean all over the place. I just needed something small and simple to do little media blasting projects, and it's perfect for that. ... show more
