I was on the fence about getting one of these. Did I really need it? Would it be difficult to work? The answer was YES, every seed starter should have this, and NO it is not difficult to use at all. I have zero upper body strength and was easily able to push the pods out. I love being able to adjust the depth of the hole. And I like being able to start my own pods and not struggle to squeeze my seedling out of a plastic square.

Easy assembly! Easy use! I gave these a try for the first time making my own soil blocks and I like it. This is a game changer and more cost effective in the long run. The block maker washes off easily and makes planting seeds a breeze with the prepunched holes for various sizes. This should hopefully last for years to come as it is made out of metal. Just make sure to dry it so it won't rust after washing.

This brand is very durable and i believe it will give me years of service. I used plastic cell sheets in the past and they never lasted more than two years for me. This works great if you use the correct form of seed starter mix. Needs to be fine mix. Be careful of most varieties that have twigs and small chunks of wood in the mix. They cause lots of problems trying to form the blocks. You'll need to sift the mix. If you make your own, make sure you use small particle vermiculite and/or perlite. I used medium size particles and it was mess. This method does dry out faster than the old plastic cells I used before, so watch out for this. I used heating pads and grow lights and had an almost 100% germination rate. I lost no seedling in transplanting, also. This method seems very gentle on the young roots. I will be using this again in the future. Finally, why 4 starts instead of 5, because it requires more effort than the old plastic cells and more attention than those plastic cells. As a minor note, I'm trying to use less plastic in my gardening and this seemed to be a good way to start.

No the best quality...compared to a ladbrooke

I own a smaller Ladbrooke soil blocker but wanted a larger one (2" block). This one was delivered quickly, and I was in a hurry. It was less expensive than the Ladbrooke version as well. If you aren't in a hurry, I would get the original version. This item is poorly made. It's not square, meaning the sides don't line up, and the part that pushes out the blocks is uneven, making some blocks taller than others. It works, but it's not as nice or easy to use. If you are on a budget, it will be fine.
