  • Decent tank, filtration side needs improvement.
The media could not be loaded. I got this as the alternative to the water box cube all in one due to the faster shipping time. But looking back to be honest, I should have canceled it when I saw it was delayed for over a week and a half. The tank itself is decent, it has nice dimensions to work with, although the silicone ceiling of the glass is not very high quality. It reminded me of the aqueon tanks from Petco, and is a bit disappointing for this price point. It's also nice that the unit comes with a glass lid. The biggest gripe I have with this system however, is the filtration side. First of all, the only positive is that it comes with a course sponge for the intake slots on the top left. That will be the only protection you have for fry fish or shrimplets. This is different to a water box cube, that has a filter stock on the intake that clears out almost everything going through the filtration system. The center section of the filter compartment for some reason has a very low level gate for the compartment with the water pump. This means that water will just flow freely from both sections towards the pump rather than flowing from the left to the center to the right. This is in stark contrast to the water box that has a much higher wall for the center compartment. Creating a water flow consistent from the left to the center to the right. The other main and biggest gripe I have with this tank is theefold: 1) the pump is way too strong (15G tank version). If you have fish that enjoy lower currents, such as beta fish, guppies, gouramis, or anything else like that, they will not enjoy this tank. I've had to switch out the pump and even with that I've had to add sponges into the tubing to slow down the flow. 2) the water pump has a proprietary looking design, where it has clamps attached to it and the tubing for the out take. It is not modular at all, and makes DIY adjustments incredibly difficult. 3) The system continues to make a grinding sound that is driving me crazy, as the tank is inside my room. I believe it has something to do with the water pumps compartment, but I'm unable to diagnose where it's coming from and the sound remains despite changing the water pump. All of this makes me severely regret buying this tank, and makes me wish that I went with a water box cube all in one system instead. I really wish I tested the system out with water before I aquascaped the tank. ... show more
