So I put literal boiling water under the acetone nail placement contraption. That was a mistake because it was way too hot, like it was literally boiling. I used Vaseline on my cuticles and around my fingertips thankfully. But you probably only need simmering water. I definitely learned you need to do a quick file off of the gel top coat to help get the layers off. I used pure acetone and let it sit for a little bit and then would take my nails out, use a nail file, file off what would come off and do it again, until it was clean of old dip powder. It was really nice to be able to keep my natural nail length intact to start a new set. I would recommend this because it worked. There was a learning curve but now that I have it down, I should be able to get the powder layers off fairly quickly. ... show more

This little hand rest to use while your nails are wrapped with acetone to remove nails is nice. I haven't tried it yet putting hot water inside, will have a give it a try.
